I can hardly believe that we're almost half way through the year, and this is the first gig that we have been to! Still, Maxïmo Park are always good value for it. click here to hear some of their music.
Maxïmo are Kerry's favourite band in the world ever. As a result, and quite unintentionally, I have now seen this band four times - and we're likely to see them again before the end of the year! That will equal the number of times that I have seen my favourite live band, Gogol Bordello... so i hope Gogol tour again soon to rectify the situation! ;o) (click here to hear some of Gogol Bordello's rawkus magnificence on Jools Holland's Later show. ACE!)
Also on the bill was a band called Stricken City who we'd never heard of before, but who were very good. Big things may very well await them.

Nel 2004 pubblicano A certain Trigger il primo album, candidato al Mercury Prize. Dopo una serie di concerti trionfali, nell'aprile del 2007 la formazione capitanata da Paul Smith realizza il secondo lavoro di studio Our Earthly Pleasures,e due anni più tardi esce Quicken The Heart: insieme, i tre album vendono più di 2 milioni di copie nel mondo. The National Health è il quarto, esplosivo album del gruppo, e viene osannato dalla critica britannica.
Registrato e prodotto dalla band tra Newscastle e Sunderland con la collaborazione di Dave Okumu dei The Invisible e David e Peter Brewis dei Field Music, Too Much Information è il quinto album della formazione inglese, e vede i Maximo Park raggiungere nuove vette nella loro già notevole capacità di scrivere canzoni e sperimentare con i suoni.
A proposito del nuovo album, Paul Smith ha dichiarato: i nostri testi e le nostre musiche non saranno mai presuntuosi, anche a qualcuno possono sembrare troppo personali: siamo una band emozionale".

As you already know, it was quite hot on Saturday at Star Club Dresden. Maxïmo Park did not improve the situation at all. But a band which gets the crowd into excessive movement inspite of temperatures of about 35 to 40º has to be really good ;)
