Emerging from the Canyon under spectacular autumn skies, a trio of EMD F40PHR locomotives hustle Watco's sold-out Agawa Canyon Tour Train over the Mile 112 trestle on the "new ACR". In February 2022, Watco purchased the old Algoma Central line from Canadian National, tastefully naming it the Agawa Canyon Railroad and resuming tour train operations for the world to enjoy. On this day, 846 passengers from around the globe were able to take in the autumnal splendour of Agawa Canyon; the crown jewel of Algoma Country.
Stretching across the spectacular 1,550-foot trestle at Montreal Falls, Ont., the Agawa Canyon Tour Train provides passengers with an unforgettable view of the rugged landscape on October 5.
Be sure to check out the January issue of Railfan & Railroad for the full story on Canadian National's Agawa Canyon finale.

Despite the choppy waters below, Canadian Pacific EMD SD60 6236 has train H88 well under control as she sails across the Mountsberg Reservoir in fading evening light.

Photographed on a beautiful day between storms back in early March with the drone. Stretching from Pelican Cove are Abalone Cove, Portuguese Bend and White Point. Pt. Fermin is way off in the distance.
On a clear day, as they say, you can almost see forever. (Or at least until the horizon line stops you. 😃)
Those familiar with Algoma lore might recall a time when people referred to the then Algoma Central and Hudson Bay Railway Company as the "All Curves and High Bridges Railway". While the name eventually changed, the section of track between Hubert and Montreal Falls certainly held true to this claim. Just south of Hubert at Mile 94.3, a 13 1/2 degree curve exhibits this true as Watco's Agawa Canyon Tour Train negotiates the tight confines of the rocky landscape. Having woven through the tightest curve on the railway, the 846 passengers aboard this sold-out train, will soon be afforded a spectacular view of the Montreal River as they traverse the iconic 1,550 foot trestle that lies less than two miles ahead.
One of the finest examples of Scottish Landscape. The great Glen Coe. The three sisters ridges of Bidean nam Bian to the left and the Aonach Eagach Ridge to the right. Add the Scottish weather and that's a perfect recipe.
When you are at school, and the teacher says draw a mountain, the triangle is where most of us would begin. Most mountains don't really look like that, but Beinn Dorain seen here certainly matches that desciption.

YES.....I did it!! I bought a drone. We just returned from a really fun and different trip to one of my favorite areas of Utah. I can't even remember how many times we have been here. But, this time was different. We went armed with DJI Air 2S drones. The Utah Badlands lend themselves to this type of photography. I have been wanting to do this for years.....but just never really got serious about doing it. I enjoy shooting so many different types of landscapes and wildlife, that I thought this might just be too much......Well......it wasn't. It turned out to be unbelievably productive and fun. Every time I flew the drone I learned something new. It was a fun learning curve and another great tool in the toolbox. I will be sharing numerous images from so many crazy spots. Beinn Tarsuinn and Beinn Nuis on the Isle of Arran. Always wondered how the view would look from 30m higher up. Now I know.

I met up with Dave Coppedge - www.flickr.com/photos/psa104/ - for an overnighter out by the Salton Sea to photograph the topography with our drones. The first day, it was very windy, but our machines handled the winds rather well.
The next morning dawned fair and calm, so we did a short hike to a spot we saw on Googly Maps that looked promising.
This shot was taken from our camp, just a short walk from the shores of Salton Sea.

I thought I did ok the first time under the circumstances I had at the time. This time round I had better gear, better weather and better light. A marked improvement I think.
The Bat Cave Buttes is a popular destination for off roaders and quad riders. They are just east of Salton Sea.
Photographed with my DJI Mavic Air 2S drone.

The first image of a new device is always special. Taking off from the same location where its predecessor landed for the final time feels like the right thing to do. And looking down from the hills towards the Moine Mhor National Nature Reserve and the Bellanoch Bridge, it's a good beginning.
There's something special about coming to Arran. Something that I can't really describe. For those of you that have been here or indeed live here, you'll know what I'm talking about. Regardless of the weather, the time spent in the villages, on the hills or the countless other activities available, this island has a special hold on you. It draws you in, and forever holds a special place in your heart. And no matter how long you have spent here, you always want more.
