It was a cold night and I was getting a bit tired. And then this came into view. Tempting....
Taken within a series of interconnected quasi-residential alleyways in Adelaide's south west corner.
Many years ago dubbed "the Beirut" end of town. Still a bit scruffy around the edges and offers plenty of opportunities to explore.
This is an exposure time I rarely go to lately - about three minutes @ iso200 on account of no street lighting. Fortunately the full moon blasted down onto the exposure for about a minute before it clouded over again - and a car turned it's headlights onto the roller door to the right for a few seconds. Kismetic moments like these are wonderful, as though the world around you is contributing actively to your creation. Unfortunately, the reverse is so often the case.

I found a place that stored 40 or 50 mattresses outside, behind a warehouse. They were subject to all weather conditions, and they smelled very, very bad. I saw no princesses or peas around either.
San Jose firefighters responded to a report of a home filled with smoke on Lakebird Ct. Arriving crews reported moderate to heavy smoke in the town home structure and moderate smoke coming from the eves.
The dense smoke prompted the IC to call for a second alarm while crews evacuated the nearby apartments and searched for the source of the smoke.
The fire was eventually found to be a heavily smoking mattress fire.
There were no injuries reported.
A shortage of PD resources leaves SJFD's PIO parking his vehicle blocking a side street as Deputy Chief Juan DIaz arrives on the scene.

I loved to create detail in every part of my designs. I couldn't just have a white mattress, I had to create a ticking pattern on the fabric and I made the tiny polymer clay buttons.
For some odd reason Olean never did get any mattresses to sell.

The old Rockford Clock Tower Resort has been demolished. It was cool walking around and seeing this abandoned resort. The water park might be saved but I doubt it.
Taken on the road between Nîmes and Rodilhan, past the ring road.
Countryside mattresses usually end their life in irrigation ditches. This one, full of energy and ambition, climbed the ditch, crawls on the road toward Nîmes : "I'll arrive in town soon, I'll be photographed, posted on Flickr. A patron of the arts will discover my talents.
Now Rodilhan, tomorrow Nîmes, next month Walthamstow will be mine !"

while waiting for the paint to dry (it is taking a very long time) i went back to working on my beds. namely the mattresses. first i cut out the filler. the rectangular bed got 1" thick memory foam. that was too thick for the other two and hid two much of the head board so instead they got three layers each of warm and natural quilt batting.
