el_horno: Was there for a week in July. Love it!

700 sq ft of popcorn ceiling scraped off. 9 gallons of primer applied to ceiling and walls. All baseboards and trim pulled. 9 gallons of paint put on the ceiling and walls. One more gallon to paint the kitchen and we will be halfway done with this remodel. New hardwood floors and kitchen cabinets after the holidays.

stormitecture: What (if anything) did you use to aid in scrapping the popcorn off. Lotta the house I'm looking at in Florida have that stuff.

mattmelcher: @stormitecture I used a special popcorn ceiling scraper I got at lowes. I also used a cement trowel - and a lot of elbow grease.

stormitecture: I have heard a little steam/moisture helps, but not crazy about that idea, with drywall's paper sides. I am also on the hunt for a possible mechanical scraper to help with "elbow grease" factor.

mattmelcher: @stormitecture depends upon what you want left after you remove the popcorn. If you want a smooth finish you'll use water or moisture to get all of it off. I went with a dry scrape as I wanted some texture left

#christmas Shannon decided to used the old 'Salvation Army' decorations. I've had them for a good 20+ years and they were at least that old when I bought the from a Salvation Army store.
