‘Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down’

I’ve always tried to keep in mind and be grateful for the things that I have and to enjoy the little things in life. I think this song encapsulates that feeling, there’s no point trying to remove the water at the bottom of the ocean, better to let it hold you down than engage in some futile battle.

David Byrne wrote most of the lyrics for the song from listening to evangelists on the radio. I think the central message is the same as Matthew 6:34

‘So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.’

An enthusiast savours the moment and worries little about tomorrow whilst enjoying recording 68007 on the Fife Circle. The train is approaching the Forth Bridge at Dalmeny, North Queensferry.

There is an alternative version of the song featuring ‘The Donald’, no offence to American friends:)

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

And if you think about it, he’s right. Fear is simply not knowing the outcome of something. If we knew the future of everything, there would be no fear, even if the outcome is bad, at least we know. But sometimes we put off knowing the outcome of something because we are fearful of the result. That leads to anxiety. My take on it, have victory of your fear by not worrying about the future. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Thank you all for all the comments on my photo yesterday. No way I’ll be able to comment back to all of you, so thank you for your generous words. I hope you have a great weekend, and if you’re up in the 805, make sure you stop by the California Strawberry Festival and partake in some delicious strawberry smoothies!

Relax.....take one day at a time.

One of the many buildings that look like they have been transplanted right out of Britain into steamy South East Asia.

This building in all it's glory in a day and age, and place so remote at the time saw such pride and pomp. Today it is deserted, awaiting funding for restoration.

It's a stark reminder to me of the uncertainties we're seeing today in societies and individual lives; mine included.

We're worked hard shoring up "Insurances of life" in banks, securities, mutual funds etc. only to see it all on shaky ground..a lot of it disappearing overnight.

Do not boast about [what you’re going to do] tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1 (NIV)

*** *** *** ***

Uncertainty...by Rick Warren

The Bible offers three timeless principles for facing an uncertain future:

1. Let God set your goals. It’s foolish to make any plans without first consulting God. He’s the only one who does know the future, and he’s eager to guide you through it. The Bible says “We may make our plans, but God has the last word” (Proverbs 16:1 GNT). In other words, planning without praying is presumption. Start by praying, “God, what do you want me to do?”

2. Live one day at a time. While you can plan for tomorrow, you can’t live tomorrow until it arrives. Most people spend so much time regretting the past and worrying about the future, they have no time for today! Commit to making the most of each moment of each day. Jesus said, “Don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time” (Matthew 6:34 LB).

3. Don’t procrastinate. Procrastinating is a subtle trap. It wastes today by postponing things until tomorrow. You promise yourself that you’ll do it “one of these days,” but then “one of these days” turns into “none of these days.” The Bible says, “Do not boast about [what you’re going to do] tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1 NIV). What have you planned to do that you haven’t done yet? When do you intend to start working on it?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The above may be easier said than done..eg. "live one day at a time", but i's Gods Words, and not Rics. And if He doesnt mean what He says and provides for His children in turn...something's terribly wrong. And for us who know the love of God and the deep relationship that exists..there is no question that He lives up to His name - Jehowah Jireh..the God who provides.

You Have Our Attention, Lord

A prayer by Max Lucado - October 2008

Our friends lost their house

The co-worker lost her job

The couple next door lost their retirement

It seems that everyone is losing their footing

This scares us. This bailout with billions.

These rumblings of depression.

These headlines: ominous, thunderous -

“Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What's Next?”

What is next?

We’re listening. And we’re admitting: You were right.

You told us this would happen.

You shot straight about loving stuff and worshipping money.

Greed will break your heart, You warned.

Money will love you and leave you.

Don’t put your hope in riches that are so uncertain.

You were right. Money is a fickle lover and we just got dumped.

We were wrong to spend what we didn’t have.

Wrong to neglect prayer and ignore the poor.

Wrong to think we ever earned a dime. We didn’t. You gave it. And now, tell us Father, are You taking it?

We’re listening. And we’re praying.

Could you make something good out of this mess?

Of course You can. You always have.

You led slaves out of slavery,

Built temples out of ruins,

Turned stormy waves into a glassy pond and water into sweet wine.

This disorder awaits your order. So do we.

Through Christ,

Amen

God will always give what is right to His people who cry to Him night and day, and He will not be slow to answer them. (Luke 18:7 NCV)

Jim Elliot- "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."

Ne aggódjatok tehát a holnap miatt, a holnap majd gondoskodik magáról! A mának elég a maga baja.(Máté 6,34)

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.(Matthew 6:34)

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Today, try focusing on the PRESENT..."Living in the moment." While there is a need to plan for the future and too learn from the past, far too many of us waste too much time and energy replaying past events (especially bad ones) and fretting over future ones.

Ultimately, our stations in life, whatever they may be, are based on what we have done with every day leading up to this day. Stop “re-madding” and being sad...Rejoice (joy again and again) and be glad, this day!

⭐️🐠☕️

This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Fear is a liar and the Enemy’s greatest weapon in our lives! We spend so much time and energy battling imaginary foes and preparing for worst case scenarios that we miss many of the blessings right in our midst. Rejoice and be glad in this day, be thankful for your daily bread, let tomorrow be anxious for itself, and fear not...today!

😉
