Mathallen at Vulkan in Oslo opened up on October 12, 2012. I made my first visit a week later when this photo was taken.

There are many great stalls in Mathallen, offering anything from artisanal cheese, cured ham, sausages and fresh sea food to craft beer, Spanish tapas, sushi and German dishes. I sampled some of it and was duly impressed by the quality and selection. However, in a couple of cases those working at the stalls didn't know what they sold, as several of my questions went unanswered. I also found the open court very crowded, the narrow passageways between the stalls were made even less passable by baby strollers (which should have been left in the "stroller parking" outside).

So, here's a couple of changes I'd like to see at Mathallen:

** Make sure baby strollers are parked outside.

** Educate those working in the stalls, they should at least know where a cheese or ham comes from.
