I'm feeling quite clever by the way the white and pink verbena, in this container, matches the pink geraniums. :)
All scraps. Since the fire, all of my fabric stash has been parceled out to friends to wash. I don't have any of it back yet, but I was scheduled to go on a quilting retreat this past weekend. Rather than stress about getting some of my fabric back, I instead looked at what I DID have on hand -- only fabrics that I had put into sealed bags prior to the fire -- so three matchymatchy fabric collections, a bunch of scraps, and a few bits of yardage of neutrals.
I had a chunk of Kona white, and odd strips of batiks left over from previous projects -- trash, really -- that were *stuffed* into 4 gallon Ziploc bags. I now have a sandwich baggie of batik scraps left. And a quilt top. And it cost me nothing. And I might have thrown these scraps away. I'm so glad I didn't. :)
Bliss and Addie are helping me out with a custom order this afternoon. Now to decide: Buttons or no?
.....matchy-matchy, or not!
I had to shovel snow off the porch to get my photos, and it was FREEZING -- but we got it done!
Matching outfits! Except I didn't get a jaunty scarf. We had a lot of matching outfits along the way. It was the 70's! If you were making your own clothes, it was just what you did. Usually Mum whipped up a third matching outfit for my fave doll too.
This is in our '74 Thunderbird on our way up to Penticton. That's my Gramma F (Mum's Mum) on the far right and my brothers swilling lemonade. Judging from my haircut (deep in a Dorothy Hamill phase) I'm guessing I was in Grade 1? ish?
With Dad driving I'm guessing Gramma sat in the back with my brothers and I was probably in the middle of the front seat. (I'm a carsick kinda girl!)
My brothers and I convinced my Mum to get all my dad's slides and photos digitized this fall. (We used Scan Cafe) The resulting 3000+ photos need to be organized and sorted, so while I do that, I'm going to upload one every day for a year.
Might as well start with Christmas, right? I think (and Mum, correct me if I'm wrong) that this is 1973 and I'm not quite 2 yet. Hopefully you guys won't get sick of seeing me in the 70's, because I find all these photos hilarious. Curlers! Tights as pants!
I made these little Petite Blythe sets just for fun, thinking they could be for twins... or not! It was a blast finding coordinating fabrics that MATCHED between the two colors! :oD
Matching top/bottom combo? Check.
Matching clothing (including complementary shirts)? Check.
Hats that could just as easily accompany you on a dugout canoe navigating the Amazon (unlikely) as on a fully-escorted day trip to the Quaintness Capital of Canada (far more likely)? Check, check, check.
This was the last time I ever got Lori to wear a dress that matched her baby sister's… or a hairbow.
Audrey and Mommy went to a fab local henna artist and had these sweet matching butterflies done.
The idea to match our designs really didn't come up until Audrey chose the butterfly, and I thought, "What the heck?"
They matched better before she oopsed and smudged hers while it was still wet. I'm thinking that next time she'll be more careful. :-)
I do not like that Jane pays attention to the TV, but it is pretty darn cute when she cuddles up with Ada to do it.
Jane only wears the most fashionable winter accessories.
I had to buy a pair of boots to match hers.
The only difference being, I don't mind wearing mine :)
This is one of my favorite tea cups. I love the simplicity.
