I've added to my small collection of Japanese Macha bowls. This one is called "white and blue" but the colours are much more subtle.
This is also hand-turned ceramic bowl from Japan. I just love the textures, subtle colours, and the occasional imperfection that mark it out and make it unique.
Shot here in the sunshine, together with some stones from the beach, flowers, and some autumn leaves and geranium flowers providing a bokeh.
There's a link to the previous bowl in the first comment field.

Happy Bokeh Wednesday ☺️
I just love things that are hand-crafted - glass, metal or ceramics, there's something special about things created by hand. Each one is unique, no two are the same.
This is a hand-turned ceramic bowl from Japan. It called a chowan, and it is designed for the tea ceremony. I love the textures, subtle colours, and the occasional imperfection that mark it out and make it unique.

The beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
Is wabi-sabi an aesthetic, a philosophy? For me, it is an opportunity to look within... however flawed and imperfect we may be - sitting quietly drinking my matcha from this beautiful Raku chawan, contemplating life, the universe, I catch a glimpse of the beauty of this short and imperfect time that we have.
Raku-yaki is a very unique ceramic technique that was developed only for matcha bowls in Kyoto about 400 years ago. The same techniques are used to this day. The most unique feature of Raku-yaki is that it feels very soft and warm to the touch by the hands or mouth. Though Raku-yaki appears very thick, it is in fact very light and beautiful to touch.

Uji matcha, Momma!
Sounds like a great name for a comic book hero, but Uji is the city where it comes from, while matcha means tea.
It’s difficult to explain the experience of matcha. It’s so pure, so energizing – an almost spiritually uplifting activity. That’s probably because other tea is an infusion, but matcha uses the whole plant.
I managed to capture steam coming from this, which I’m pleased with. I’m not so sure about the state of the bamboo whisk. When I was taking the shot I wanted to tell a story: to show the bamboo spool had been used to measure the tea, and the whisk in frothing it. In retrospect, it makes the whisk look blotchy.
I did a better job of capturing the steam on the earlier photograph, when the tea was warmer: www.flickr.com/photos/38722915@N04/5769614781/in/photostream
