Dutch Rail Doghead-type EMU near Gouda (Moordrecht Junction).
Old slide from the days trains still were trains. A solid lump of steel that took forever to gain velocity but when at speed was practically unstoppable. Comfortable goodlooking trains.

Con nít mỗi lần vấp ngã là khóc và chờ người đỡ dậy. Người lớn mỗi lần vấp ngã là mỗi lần lớn lên, học được nhiều điều và tự đứng dậy trên chính đôi chân của mình.
Con nít yêu nhau bằng những tình yêu kẹo bông. Người lớn yêu nhau bằng những tình yêu chân thành.
Con nít lúc nào cũng mơ tưởng người mình yêu sẽ là hoàng tử hay công chúa. Người lớn chỉ mong rằng sẽ có người yêu mình là được.
Con nít yêu một người chỉ đơn giản là ở bên người đó vui vẻ, được yêu được thương. Người lớn yêu một người là cảm giác bên người mình yêu được che chở, bảo vệ, quan tâm, yêu thương.
Con nít được thích thì thích lại, không suy nghĩ gì thêm. Người lớn khi yêu ai thì đó là tình cảm chân thành, không phải rung động nhất thời, phải có trách nhiệm và nghĩ về tương lai của cả hai.
Con nít yêu tí là giận tí là dỗi. Người lớn yêu nhau thì không giận hờn vô cớ không lí do.
Con nít thì bắt chước suy nghĩ sao cho thật giống người lớn. Người lớn thì mong muốn sao cho mình có thể nhỏ như con nít.
Con nít nhìn cuộc đời bằng con mắt ngây thơ, màu hồng. Người lớn nhìn cuộc sống bằng nhiều góc cạnh khác nhau, nhiều mảnh màu khác nhau.
Và thời gian trôi qua…
Con nít sẽ trở thành người lớn. Còn người lớn sẽ chẳng bao giờ trở lại làm con nít
I picked up this Yashica Mat from the Bay recently. First roll was shot and needs to be developed. It's in decent shape, all the speeds seem accurate and the timer works. My first TLR was a Yashica D that I had a lot of fun with. I ended up selling it because it had the 3 element Yashikor and wasn't quite as sharp as I wanted. From there I had the Rolleiflex Automat, great camera but sold because the taking lens had a small blemish and I like my glass to be clean, clean, clean! So this brings me to the Yashica Mat. It has a 4 element Yashinon that is quite capable. I'll keep this until I manage to find a clean Rolleiflex Planar 2.8C for a decent price.

I have no idea whether he is called Mat or not, but he and his horse were working an old fashioned horse-powered thresher at Ballina heritage day. That immediately brought to mind the fictional character 'Mat the Thresher' from Charles Kickham's 'Knocknagow', which I suspect is rarely read nowdays! I could see him fitting the description of the Mat in the book:
"He excelled in all kinds of work as a farm labourer, and never met his match at wielding a flail. As a consequence, he was in great request among farmers from October to March; and, indeed, during all the year round — for Mat could turn a hand almost to anything, from soleing a pair of brogues to roofing and thatching a barn. His superiority as a ploughman was never questioned".
Not a bad photographic subject either!

Shot on expired Agfaphoto Vista Plus 200 (rebranded Fujicolor C200) with an AR-Hexanon 1.8/52 lens fitted on a Konica Autoreflex TC camera. Some PP in Pixlr-O-Matic.

At last I got my Yashica-Mat back from the repair shop. A new mirror was fitted in place of the old one which was badly damaged, everything was cleaned and lubricated and works as it should. The lens platform was a bit wobbly and had to be disassembled and put back together, a fact that necessitated removal of the side covers which due to age had become brittle and had to be taken off bit by bit and then replaced by new leatherette. It looks and feels a bit different than the original, but I really wanted to have this camera in the best possible working condition and appearance had to take the back seat.
This is an early (1957) model with the 3.5/80 Lumaxar taking lens, the name initially used by Yashica on their 4-element TLR lenses, later replaced by "Yashinon". There is some controversy on wether the Lumaxars are different than the Yashinons, but general consensus is that they are the same lens, made by Tomioka for Yashica.
This is my first medium format camera and I'll have to shoot exclusively B&W film with it, as no one develops 120 film where I live anymore and developing at home is my only option. I will also have to (finally) unbox my Epson flatbed scanner to scan the negatives, so if I decide to use this Yashica, I will be in charge of the whole shooting, developing and scanning process for the first time. Fingers crossed!
