Als er geïnteresseerden zijn, de titel van het werk is: Market liquidity as determinant for underpricing of increases in equity capital. - An empirical study of the Belgian stock market. Het opzet was dit jaar een kort werk, een paper die potentially publishable is. In The Journal of Finance zullen we wel niet gepubliceerd geraken, maar ik ben toch een tevreden man. Abstract:
In this empirical cross sectional study, our main objective is to investigate how stock underpricing after an equity capital increase is affected by expected market liquidity. Although the observed underpricing is lower than that for initial public offerings, it is still a substantial cost for the issuing firms. The sample used in the analysis looks at 386 increases in equity capital between 1996 and 2007 from 81 companies listed on Euronext Brussels. We find that even when correcting for other determinants for underpricing (such as share performance, profitability and the size of the issuing firm), higher expected market liquidity lowers underpricing.
