It isn't unusual when walking around downtown Ottawa to see people taking a quick smoke break, in fact many of my Human Family encounters have been with people taking a break. As a rule smokers usually extinguish their cigarettes prior to having their photograph taken.
Meet Adolfo, an exception to that rule. Adolfo was standing at the entrance to Jeanne d'Arc Court enjoying his cigar.
Originally from Cuba, he is a Massage Therapist at the nearby York Street Spa, he also runs his own Home Massage Service, which provides a full array of massage techniques and services.
Adolfo was smoking a Montecristo which he had brought back from a recent trip to Cuba. I asked him about the price difference between Cuban cigars purchased in Cuba compared to Cuban cigars purchased in Canada. He advised that it wasn't always a fair comparison as one should always buy cigars from the government run stores in Cuba as they guarantee quality and price. "Never, never, never" buy cigars on the street in Cuba, as you have no idea what goes into them. He compared it to buying a fake Rolex on the streets in Asia.
Adolfo has been in Canada for three years and he really loves it, his English is excellent, a fact he disputes.
He posed for a few shots, then he had to get back to work.
It was great meeting Adolfo, a man who is enjoying his new life in Canada and his Cuban cigars.
Update: I bumped into Adolfo and he thanked me for the the photographs. What a nice man.

I celebrated my 12 year anniversary as a massage therapist, and 7 years self-employed in April 2023. My massage career is something I am extremely passionate about, and why I'm not as active with photography. My efforts to evolve as a professional are focused on the care I give to my clients. I am proud of what I've accomplished over a dozen years.
Nu, the lady next to me, runs a spa right next to the Pho Hoi resort and I had heard several recommendations to try her spa. That is Nu herself- I had the privilege to meet her and to talk to her and to take this picture with her. Here is a traditional Balinese massage house in the vicinity of the Ubud Palace. The last few pictures from the Ubud Palace more or less wraps up my Bali visit. I have skipped the local market opposite the Ubud Palace as I am thoroughly drained now, it had been a physically demanding morning- in fact this ride on the back of my guide's motor scooter was because I could not handle the long trek back! I had at any rate seen enough local markets in Tanah Lot and Kuta. (see previous pictures earlier in this album). It was difficult to aim and shoot with my large D750 dSLR, riding on the back of a relatively unstable two wheeler where any sudden movement may cause the person driving to lose balance. Still, I gave it my best shot (pun unintended!) and this is the result. I thought the $ 7 per hour is rather expensive. (Bali, Indonesia, May 2018)
