It's gonna be a massacre, gonna be a massacre, gonna be a massacre
It's gonna be a massacre, gonna be a massacre, gonna be a massacre
Blood on the floor, glamour and gauze
Stain on the glass, make this the last night that you're here
Bites on your neck, can't dodge a hex
Show me respect, I see the death, I smell the fear
Don't be afraid, just take my hand
Come follow me, I promise that I'll take you there
Just you and me, can't even breath
Can't hear your scream

Maítear go gcoimeádann an t-óstán draíocht an tseansaoil ach go bhfuil na deiseanna nua-aimseartha ar fad ann. Thugtaí Muileann Mhahúna (Mahony) ar mhuileann na Blarnan ar dtúis agus dhéantaí cultacha bréidín agus éadaí olla ann. Dúnadh an muileann go luath sna 1970idí, ach chinn fiontraí áitiúil, Christy Kelleher (Ó Céileachair) an láthair a athchumadh mar shiopa bronntanas de cháilíocht agus mar óstán. Is léir gur ana-smaoineamh ab ea freastal ar na turasóirí a bhíonn ag tabhairt cuairte ar an gcaisleán agus ar an gcloch clúiteach atá ann. ▪️Hen felin wlân a adeiladwyd yn 1823 yw'r gwesty hwn, ac mae ar dir Melinau Gwlân an Bhlarna (Blarney). Unusual petroglyph. I take this to be half-human, half-jaguar. It occurs in Apache territory, but may predate the Apache presence.

2013 NOTE: I loved setting up and taking this picture. It felt good to be indulging in the childlike joy of creating the scene I was going to photograph, and arranging the colourful fragments of pencil. The result is pretty basic, with the lighting acting against the picture and the bog-standard macro function of my camera contributing almost nothing . . . But I remember being absorbed in the idea.
In 1692, the Massacre of Glencoe took place in the glen below, when soldiers of Clan Campbell, loyal to the English King, slaughtered members of Clan MacDonald on the grounds that the MacDonalds had not been prompt in pledging allegiance to the new monarchs, William and Mary. The women and children were forced into these mountains to die of exposure. When you stand watching a blood dawn over Glencoe you can almost hear the whispers of the ghosts from the past.
Rue Massacre has a certain charm, with its hanging umbrellas (or stars) at certain times of the year, its small shops, and its proximity to the Gros Horloge. A setting that completely denotes the name it bears, which raises the question: why does it have such a harsh name, when it is among the prettiest streets in the city? Contrary to what people may think, these are not ‘massacres’ of humans, but of animals. Indeed, Rue Massacre was for several centuries the street of the butchers' corporation. Other streets bear a similar heritage: rue Ganterie, where the glove makers were established, rue des Bonnetiers, where bonnets were bought… And there is of course rue des Boucheries-Saint-Ouen. »
The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919. A large peaceful crowd had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, British India, to protest against the Rowlatt Act and arrest of pro-independence activists Saifuddin Kitchlew and Satyapal. In response to the public gathering, the temporary Brigadier general, R. E. H. Dyer, surrounded the protesters with his Gurkha, Baloch, Rajput and Sikh troops from 2-9th Gurkhas, the 54th Sikhs and the 59th Scinde Rifles of the British Indian Army.[4] The Jallianwala Bagh could only be exited on one side, as its other three sides were enclosed by buildings. After blocking the exit with his troops, he ordered them to shoot at the crowd, continuing to fire even as the protestors tried to flee. The troops kept on firing until their ammunition was exhausted. Estimates of those killed vary between 379 and 1,500 or more people[1] and over 1,200 other people were injured of whom 192 were seriously injured.
I really wanted a chainsaw for Christmas. Instead, all I got was this stupid hedge trimmer... I was damned pissed!
At the end of the Massacre Grounds trail in the Superstition Mountains, there is a waterfall. It was a little surprising to us. We did walk right up to the falls which had a great air conditioning effect. Pretty cool thing to see in the middle of the desert.
"The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continued their indiscriminate attacks in the Gaza Strip for the sixteenth consecutive day, with the estimated number of victims rising to 884. During the reporting period, IOF attacks were most ferocious in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip, where Palestinian civilians continued to be killed indiscriminately. The killing of children has become a characteristic of the attacks in both these areas. The increasing number of civilian victims, especially children and women, and the continuing use of excessive lethal force against civilians and their property, indicates that IOF is aiming to cause maximum deaths of Palestinian civilians and destruction of their property.
Scenes of death and destruction in the Gaza Strip are now reminiscent of the massacres perpetrated in the Sabra, Shatilla and Qana refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has a dedicated team of field workers, whose ongoing investigations indicate that IOF are employing weapons which may be internationally prohibited in order to attack civilians in densely populated area throughout the Gaza Strip. These weapons include bombs that detonate before landing, dispersing flaming shrapnel which is causing intense burning of skin down to the bone, and thus destroys limbs. IOF have also deployed bombs that release dense, toxic smelling white smoke that has caused suffocation and fainting amongst victims."

Ludlow was the site of the 1914 Ludlow Massacre where Colorado Guardsmen fired upon a tent colony of striking coal miners and their families, killing 21. The event was the climax of a one-year period of labor unrest known as the Coalfield War of Colorado.

our sorrow to all those involved in this latest massacre. march, 2016
will it never end?
I have to add, I can't abide by the suggestions of some of our american presidential nominees that we should sequester and/or patrol the neighborhoods of our american muslims.
it's a rather non-creative proposal, it's been done before; it reminds me of the pogroms of hitler, and the japanese internment camps of WWII.
I thought we were a nation for religious freedom.
On this day 200 years ago a peaceful crowd demanding Parliamentary reform were attacked by cavalry in Manchester, in what became known as the Peterloo Massacre. 18 would lose their lives and hundreds more were injured.
