This Maserati with Moroccan registration had made the crossing to the luxury harbor of Puerto Banús. Morocco is therefore only a stone's throw from the Spanish region of Andalusia.

Nice to spot such an Italian trident SUV in my own street. In the snow!

Moroccan license plates are everywhere on the Costa del Sol. Not surprising of course, because Morocco is only a few hours by car and boat.

Hoe? Waarom?!
Frankfurt am Main, Duitsland
Even though the Levante SUV may not be the most beautiful Maserati there is, the question is still: how can you do this to a Maserati? How? Why?!

It seems like the World has gone SUV mad and hardly any manufacturer dare not cash in on this craze no matter how exclusive and high end they think they are! No marque is considered too precious to escape this phenomenon with Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche and now Maserati joining the SUV party with shock horror Rolls Royce soon to follow with its Cullinan!
The Maserati Levante is actually quite a striking beast which is already finding favour here in the U.K. judging by how many I see on a regular basis and so it falls to wonderful Welly to bring out the first 1/64 version. I don't really need to tell you that for its pocket money aspirations it really does impress on all counts. A smooth metallic white paint finish envelopes a highly accurate body and is fully complimented by painted external features and attractive wheels. Definitely scale model quality for Hot Wheels money! Bought recently from my usual Bulgarian Ebayer. Mint and boxed.
A Maserati SUV would have sounded like witchcraft a decade ago but such is the unstoppable force of SUV's that it is a necessity in their line up. So much so that its probably one of their best selling vehicles and the one Maserati you are guaranteed to see on the roads here on a regular basis. In my opinion not a particularly pretty thing but its pretty hard to make an SUV look sexy and svelte!
Welly were quick to bring out their 1/64 version fairly recently and must be one of very few who have modelled it in this scale and pocket money price point. Naturally they have done a superb job replicating it with nice touches such as a heavily stylised front grille and alloy effect wheels.
Found recently in my new Welly mecca they call France ;-)
Mint and boxed.
Less than 24 hours after Maserati started production of the Levante at its Mirafiori plant in Turin on Monday, the Italian firm rolled out its first ever SUV in Geneva.
Named after a warm Mediterranean wind, the Levante is pivotal for Maserati’s efforts to increase sales over the next few years, especially in China and North America, where it will try to conquer sales from the likes of Porsche’s Cayenne, BMW’s X5 and X6, and Mercedes-Benz’s GLE series.
The new Maserati SUV rides on an evolved version of the Quattroporte and Ghibli architecture, sharing the same powertrains as the latter, including a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline unit in 350PS (345hp) and 430PS (424hp) forms, and a 275PS (271hp) 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel. All engines are combined with Maserati’s “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive system that can transfer torque between the axles instantaneously when required, and an 8-speed automatic transmission, with an integrated Start&Stop system.
The base 350PS Levante accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 6.0 seconds and achieves a top speed of 251 km/h (156mph), with combined cycle consumption and emission figures of 10.7 l/100 km and 249g CO2/km respectively.
The fastest model in the range is the 430PS Levante S that hits 100km/h (62mph) in 5.2 seconds, has a top speed of 264 km/h (164mph), and provides combined consumption and emission figures of 10.9 l/100 km and 253g CO2/km respectively.
As for the most frugal model, it is, of course, the 275PS Levante diesel that accelerates to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 230km/h (143mph), returning a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 189g /km.
The SUV has a double-wishbone suspension on the front axle and multi-link on the rear, combined with electronically controlled damping and four corner air-springs that provide 5 dynamic ride levels plus one for park-position. According to Maserati, the Levante has a perfectly balanced weight distribution (50-50) between front and rear.
It will come equipped with a variety of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic brake assist system and lane departure warning, as well as blind spot alert, surround view camera and a powerlift tailgate. For those who want their Levante with a bit more style and technical contents, Maserati will offer two extended feature packages named Luxury and Sport.

It doesn't matter how prestigious you think you are and that your history is based on exotic supercars and luxury saloons, if you dont have an SUV to sell in 2018 then you are at a major disadvantage. One by one some of the glossiest motoring names in history are succumbing to producing big SUV's to satisfy an insatiable Worldwide demand for this type of vehicle. It would have been unthinkable just ten years ago you'd see Maserati producing something like this but here we have the Levante and its already becoming a fairly common sight on our roads in a way NO Maserati would have been in the past, certainly not where I live anyway!
To my knowledge Welly have been one of the first toy makers to produce one in this scale and already its on to its second recolour seen here in its gleaming metallic blue finish. Considering its budget intentions this is one classy little diecast laden with nice detailing, believable wheels and accurate interior. Bought recently from my usual Bulgarian source. What is it with Welly and Bulgaria! Mint and boxed.
Decided to go HDR with this one from the 2019 Vancouver Auto Show (More photos up at flic.kr/s/aHsmL9W9VE). Hope you approve of the final product...

Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

Porsc...

With AliExpress now mainly concentrating on familiar brands and having not set foot out of the UK since January 2020 i've been a bit lax on finding obscure Chinese diecasts in the same numbers I used to! Luckily I did strike gold on AliExpress with a six vehicle set containing expensive Western SUV's.
The logo on the packaging either says 23 or ZE or indeed could merely be symbols. This Maserati Levante is typical of whats in the pack ie. unlicensed but actually very neatly cast for a cheapo. Front and rear detailing to lights, an interior and smart alloy effect wheels are offered. Mint and boxed.
