I recently upgraded my camera from the trusty old Canon T7 Rebel (APS-C) to a new Canon EOS R6. I must say, I'm loving the new RF lens. This was taken from nearly 500m away on the Sth Wharf side of the Yarra River (not the much closer Nth Wharf). I'm amazed that I can make out the individual globes hanging above the bar under the marvel stadium sign.
It's just my personal taste, but I really like sharp & exaggerated star bursts, so for night photography, I always close the aperture down to f/18 or smaller when I can.
The MARVEL STADIUM sign has always eluded me in the past. Taking a 2-minute expose of a night scene with a brightly lit sign guarantees it will be well over exposed. I did a 2 image HDR for this shot, 1 x 5sec for just the marvel sign, 75sec for the rest of the image. I'm happy with the result. Taking long exposures of boats on the water is never easy.
As always, I like to shoot at f22 to get the sharpest starbursts from the street lights. I wouldn’t normally mention this, but the plethora of photo editing software makes these little touches easy to include using AI. I much prefer capturing them naturally with the lens.

Earlier this year the tower building and cranes dominated the skyline from Marvel Stadium Docklands. The price of apartments in the city has dropped due to the pandemic but I imagine the buildings will be full in due time.

This is last week's post from the Taylor Swift concert in Melbourne. When the tickets came out on sale earlier last year, I was too slow in getting ground level seats.
