Maruška 854.217 pomalu vjíždí do Polubenského tunelu u Kořenova a klesá na spádu 56 promile do údolí Jizerských hor.

I když 27. ledna 2019 do Jizerských hor sluníčko nezavítalo, přijel do Tanvaldu z Prahy rychlík 1148 "Jizera" s menším jak desetiminutovým zpožděním. To znamenalo, že se vlak po odpojení přípojných vozů, může vydat dál pod stejným číslem až do Harrachova.

Zde na obrázku zachycený motorový vůz - Hydra 854.217 "Maruška" vystoupala až do Kořenova, právě projíždí ledovým zářezem, který jak jinak v zimě lemují obrovské masy ledu a rampouchů. Zanedlouho přejede přes Jizerský most, pod kterým protéká řeka Jizera dělící Jizerské hory a Krkonoše. Po projetí Harrachovským tunelem a dalších dvou až třech minutách jízdy, zastaví vlak na konečné v Harrachově.

Maruška 854.217 s osobním vlakem 16234 se právě vynořila z Dolnopolubenského tunelu, který se nachází mezi dopravnou D3 Dolní Polubný a zastávkou Desná Riedlova vila (tou dobou ještě zastávka nebyla postavena), tak uveďme pouze stanici Desná. Dolnopolubenský tunel o své délce 166 metrů byl postaven stejně jako celá ozubnicová trať z Tanvaldu do Kořenova v roce 1902.

U příležitosti 90. výročí existence značky Lego proběhla v pátek 10. června 2022 soukromá akce v Praze-Braníku. Firma zajistila návoz svých zaměstnanců zvláštními vlaky, které byly vypraveny přímo z Kladna do stanice Praha Braník.

O návoz se postaraly dvě velké soupravy. Jedna byla složena z vozů klasické stavby a o převoz se postaraly lokomotivy 754.045 a 754.031. Druhá souprava pro mě určitě zajímavější byla složena z motorových vozů řady 854 a vložených Bdtn 054. Na snímku je zachycena právě druhá ze jmenovaných souprav (vlak Sv11770), s postrkovým motorovým vozem 854.212, vložené jsou 854.029 a 854.217, v čele vlaku jede 854.008. Vlak je teprve na cestě do Kladně, kam jede vyzvednout cestující.

Bohužel počasí si ten den vyloženě s fotografy hrálo a příliš nespolupracovalo.

Maruška 854.217 s rychlíkem 1151 "Jizera" z Harrachova do Prahy, před pár okamžiky opustila stanici Kořenov a čeká ji klesání po nejstrmějším úseku trati z Kořenova do Tanvaldu. Ve stanici Tanvald, budou ještě dobrány přívěsné vozy. Bohužel rychlíky na Zubačce jsou již nyní opět minulostí.

Na postrku rychlíku 1148 byla 26. května 2018 nasazena 854.021 přezdívaná „Lenka“. V čele je pak nasazena dvojková hydra 854.217 „Maruška“, která z Tanvaldu následně pokračovala až do Harrachova. Vlak je zachycen na vjezdu do stanice Malá Skála. Na pozadí snímku je možné zhlédnout Vranovský hřeben a zříceninu skalního hradu Vranov známkou jako Pantheon. Nachází se zde mnoho vyhlídek do širého okolí a po zaplacení vstupu i krásná procházka mezi skalními útvary, pomníky a najde se i nějaký ta jeskyně.

Deze ochtend werd even rondgekeken op het traject Tanvald - Harrachov, een traject dat bekent staat om zijn tandrad op een deel van het tracé. Deze dag was één van de 6 jaarlijkse spoorfeesten die hier worden gehouden, waarbij o.a. historische treinen worden ingezet. Van de historische treinen hebben we verder helaas geen zonfoto kunnen maken.

Aan het eind van de ochtend wilden we wel graag de trein naar Praag fotograferen. Sinds het hoogseizoen van 2018 rijden er namelijk in de weekenden weer 2 doorgaande sneltreinen van Praag naar Harrachov. Tussen Praag en Tanvald is dat een 854 met enkele rijtuigen, vanaf Tanvald is dat een losse 854. Vanwege de stijle hellingen op dit traject, zijn er vanuit Brno twee 854.2 motorwagens naar Praag gekomen. De gerenoveerde 854.2 motorwagens zijn op het traject Tanvald - Harrachov toegelaten, de overige 854'ers niet. De 854 216 en 854 217 zijn om die reden verplaatst naar een depot in Praag.

Gelukkig brak bij doorkomst van de 854 217 in Desná precies op het juiste moment de zon door. De losse motorwagen is onderweg vanuit Harrachov naar Praag als R 1145 'Valdštejn' (een burcht in Turnov).

De normale dienst op dit traject wordt met stoptreinen in een uurdienst uitgevoerd, gereden met RegioShuttles van de ČD.

We’ve been laying siege to Königsberg for months, and now it’s time to finish the city off. The fighting in the streets has lasted for days, like every other city we’ve taken, and now we’ve reached the point where all that remain of Fritz’s defenses are isolated pockets.

As I write this, my comrades are closing in on Berlin. I’m sad I’m not there with them, that my role in the end of the war is so far away from the real front. But, for the first time in a long time, I feel confident that I will survive this war. I miss Kiev, or at least what is left of it. The sooner they give up, the sooner I can go home.

When through today’s media we are so inundated with images of tragedy it’s all too natural to feel overwhelmed and to respond with despair. This poem by Judyth Hill offers a way to take action by bringing our awareness to the creative potential of intention, grounded in the moment-by-moment activity of breathing. Visually, the large area of rusty metal connotes the damage done by war, while the flower symbolizes the tenacity and strength of the simple, beautiful, truthful gesture connecting us to hope.

I’d been thinking about the challenge of this poster for some weeks, but synchronistically, it was only on the day that I’d set aside to work on it that I found Judyth’s poem. I knew immediately that I wanted to visually represent the opposites suggested by the concept “wage peace,” and went for a walk in the ravine behind my home watching for such an image. This rusty object caught my eye from its hiding place in the creekbed, and I nestled it among the spring flowers for the photo. My gratitude goes to Lorna Turner for her partnership in the technical production of the piece.

If enough of us focus on the light, darkness will be transformed. Wage peace!

January 4th 2010 - Another one from The Auto Collections Museum Las Vegas...

Most early Ford show cars were sent to be destroyed after serving their duty, but this special car, a one-off Thunderbird called the "Italien" managed to escape the crusher. The story goes that this special Thunderbird was displayed at the 1964 New York World's Fair (the one and only time it was shown), and was destined to be destroyed after the show. Instead, it was sold to actor Dale Robertson, and later in 1986 sold to Ford collector Don Chambers. Chambers owned the car for twenty years, and then sold it to Thunderbird restorer Tom Maruska, who brought the car back to its original condition as seen here. Design features of the "Italien" include a fastback roof line and a unique leather interior.

The 1963 Ford Thunderbird "Italien" "Concept Car was featured in Ford's 1962-63 "Custom Car Caravan" and appeared in Autoramas throughout the United States such as Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami and more. The Italien was featured in 14+ magazines in 1963 and 1964 such as "Motor Trend", "Hot Rod", "Car Life", "Motorcade", "Speed and Custom" and others.. The Italien also appeared in the 1964 New York Worlds Fair's "Cavalcade of Custom Cars" and was prominently featured in a special World's Fair publication..."

In January 2008 the car sold at Auction for US $600,00.00.

This was probably one of my favourite cars at the Museum...

I must admit...I do have rather a soft spot for Thunderbirds...
