View of one of the most important wetlands in an estuary in southern Galicia, Spain. We passed this while walking the "Camino de Santiago".

Amid watery marshes below dark towering cliffs a pair of fisherman huts stand silently in the morning light of The Hell's Haven. Offering onlookers dry shelter as reward for slogging across the grassy marshlands where wildlife lurks hoping to capture a breakfast of fish from the quiet waters.

From last year, another shot from the Lauwersmeer (Lauwerslake) area, this shot was from the observation tower "De Baak" where I spent a few days, hoping to see the bearded tit, that time one of the birds on my "to do"list, and although I happened to see a few of them, they were too quick, and with too little to get a decent picture.

The spot was great though, and I got some nice shots of hunting western marsh harriers, that had there nests here (somewhere).

A MUST VIEWED LARGE!!

This plateau is situated approximately 550 meters above sea level at Dirdal, Norway. In the distance you can discern a valley. It is the valley Dirdal at about 5 meters above sea level. Those who drive through this valley probably has no idea of this vast marshlands which is situated high above them. Colors are blown up to really bring forward the glory of this place.

This was taken with an Infrared Filter.

It was early in the morning before sunrise. Thick fog was hugging the marshland and the sky was heavy with clouds which are reflected in the water. I was on my own enjoying the sunrise and the calm tranquil moments nature offered.

The marshland is one of the earth's natural filtration systems.

My Channel is a year old today! The Vlog is titled “Marlborough, Picton & the Sounds” and simply records my day leaving the South Island and Picton. The Link is in the Comments, thank you for your support.

This is about 140 meters higher in elevation than the location in the previous photo. Here, the autumn foliage would soon come to an end.

Dawn at the Blackditch Nature reserve looking across the salt marsh towards the beach, the railway line and the old disused train station at Newcastle Co. Wicklow. A pretty and a very special place.

The iconic St Thomas a Becket church on Romney Marsh

A lone egret scrummages for a meal on the southern end of Tomales Bay. The marshland here is a popular destination for bird watchers from all over the world. I was definitely keeping watch on this evening.

A pair of egrets forage in the marshland, as the fog begins to lift, revealing another beautiful morning along Tomales Bay. The distant hills are just beginning to appear in the distance, displaying the real gold in California. A weathered wooden walkway leads to a well used bird watching platform. This is life in the moment--the harbinger of true happiness.

A tranquil little marshland scene near Pescadero CA. The Santa Cruz Mountains loom in the distance. Usually this pond is full of water fowl, but on this day only a handful of birds were floating about. I suspect there was a predator lurking nearby.

Happy Fence Friday everyone.
