My best friend got married in the Fondation Beyeler in Basel. After two days of rain and even rain damage in the museum, it was a beautiful afternoon and evening! 20 August 2022.

This is one of my fave moments in one of the weddings I covered last month.
They just all look so happy. And no, the bride wasn't asleep. She was looking
and encouraging the little girl to smile but instead, the little girl decided she would
rather stick her tongue out. She's just so adorable. =)

Dinner with family & friends the night before our wedding. Of course it's a picture of a picture. We were younger then, and I was a bit loose, or hippyish.
One often reads that the secret of a successful marriage is "interests in common". In my experience this is not quite true. Mrs B and I get on as well as any married couple have the right to expect in this vale of tears that we all inhabit; yet she has no interest in morbid socio-anthropological cultural phenomenology or motor vehicle licensing systems, and I have even less in jewellery making, fancy rat keeping, Star Trek or the music of Mr Elton John. No. More important, I think, is what you might call "coincidence of outlook". Sympatico as the Italians say. So, when I proposed a short slagheap-spotting holiday in northern France, I was confident of a sympathetic reception. Neither of us is one for package holiday beach resorts, booze cruises or sight-seeing trips; nor is either of us at a loose end when not provided with some organised entertainment. Indeed, I've never understood the need to be "entertained".
The slagheap-spotting holiday was something I'd been promising myself since first I drove south from a cross-Channel ferry on the E15. I can't remember when that was, but I recall the impression left on my imagination, as I fumbled for péage money, by those stupendous cones of colliery waste sitting on the horizon many kilometers away on either side of the autoroute. So, at last, I returned. Oh dear. I noticed, the following morning, when I came down for my petit déjeuner (yaoart, croissants, pain, beurre, comfiture, café noir), that I'd left a trail of muddy footprints across our hotel foyer's carpet.
A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
