Andrew Marr arrives in Edinburgh for first public performance since his stroke at Edinburgh Book Festival
JOHNNY MARR: Born in Ardwick, Manchester in 1963, formed his first band at the age of 13. He was part of several bands before forming The Smiths with Morrissey in 1982. The Smiths attained commercial success and were critically acclaimed, with Marr's jangle-pop guitar style becoming distinctive of the band's sound, but separated in 1987 due to personal differences between Marr and Morrissey. Since then, Marr has been a member of The Pretenders, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse and The Cribs and has become a prolific session musician working with names such as Talking Heads and Hans Zimmer.
GREATER MANCUNIANS is a Manchester College student led landmark photography project (supported by Manchester City Council). It features those people born, bred, or who have made their home within the current Greater Manchester boundary and who have in some way culturally shaped the city and its surrounding boroughs.
The project will be published and exhibited in a major city centre exhibition in 2021/22.

The beautiful small village church of St Helen’s has original herringbone masonry. The nave and chancel are early Norman and the short spire tower is thought to date from around 1300. The stone-ribbed porch is 15th century.
There are many interesting things to see including an early 14th century font, Royal Coat of Arms, two medieval piscinas and the pulpit with its fine medieval woodwork. There are also traces of red wall painting on the south arcade arches and round one of the windows.
Marr featured in the Domesday survey of 1086. Seventy Roman coins were recently found in the area which provide evidence of the boundary line which Marr formed at the Roman Rickneild Street.
This home was built for Alexander Marr in 1884. It was one of several houses requisitioned as part of a field hospital in May 1885 to treat the wounded from the Battles of Fish Creek and Batoche during the North-West Rebellion. Marr was a stonemason who built Saskatoon's first permanent school, the first Victoria School (aka the "Little Stone School"), at Broadway Avenue and 11th Street, now relocated to the University of Saskatchewan grounds. An addition greatly increased the original size of the house, which has a wood frame, a mansard roof and dormer windows. The property is owned by the city and is a municipal heritage property. It is the oldest building in Saskatoon on its original site.
Just after playing their first of two shows last month in Shibuya's Duo Music Exchange, Modest Mouse broke for dinner. While waiting in the hotel for the requisite label people to show up, the non-plussed looking guitarist and co-song-writer Johnny Marr was softly accosted by cloying Japanese fans.
