J. T. MARR DIED
______
Following Short Illness of Heart
Trouble and Bright’s Disease
______
J. T. Marr died at his home, in West Sterling, July 1, aged 81 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Mr. Marr suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago, and ever fully recovered from its effects. About a month ago he fell and the shock from the fall was most too much for the tired body and he was confined to his bed the greater part of the time since. He suffered a great deal at times but the end seemed to come peacefully.
John T. Marr was born in Warrensburg, Mo., August 29, 1841, where he lived until he grew to manhood, and where he was united in marriage with Miss Lucy Boisseau, in December, 1895. Three children were born to them Charles, Sybil Ann and Will, the latter being the only one to survive his father. Olive E. Hickman was taken into the home at the age of five months and was raised as on the family. She now resides in Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Marr came to Kansas about thirty-three years ago, settling on a farm near Medicine Lodge. They moved to Sterling about seventeen years ago, where they have since made their home.
At the age of fourteen Mr. Marr gave his heart to Jesus and was always afterwards an ardent follower of His word, having spent over fifty years as a faithful member of the Seven Day Adventist church. Mr. Marr spent over three years in the service of his country having served in the Civil War. Mr. Marr was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his aged wife who is quite feeble. It will be remembered that she fell a couple of months ago and cracked the bone of her hip and since that time she has to walk with a cane. The death of her husband has been a severe shock to her, and she has sympathy of a large circle of friends in her sorrow.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Spriggs, and the body was interred in Cottonwood cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Marr the former a son of the deceased, came from Oklahoma to attend the funeral; and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cramer came from Wichita. Mrs. Cramer is a granddaughter, and five other grandchildren mourn the death of Mr. Marr.
