It’s been 26 years since we last visited Australia on our honeymoon. We intended to go back for our 10th and 20th anniversaries but life had other things installed for us and our 25th was cancelled because of family health problems. But we finally made it for our 26th anniversary on the 4th October.
I thought it at the time, and this trip has only reinforced my belief that Australia is a far more advanced country with a positive lifestyle and culture to be envied. However, right from the outset, and I mean the moment our A350 touched the ground that Australia has gone out of its way to recognise its first peoples with acknowledgements at every opportunity, although the referendum result has totally contradicted this so let’s stay away from all of the politics.
I’m in two minds whether or not to post in chronological order or pick out the best images due to over excitement. However, here’s my first image take on day one in Melbourne… I’ve got over 2200+ images to go at plus several hundred taken on my iPhone.

“Birrarung Marr – We respectfully acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the Kulin Nation. This special place is now known by its European name of Melbourne. Today, Melbourne is one of the great multicultural cities of the world, a significant meeting place. Birrarung means ‘river of mists’ in the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people who originally inhabited the area and ‘Marr’ equates with the side of the river. The Melbourne City Council proudly dedicates this park to the people of Melbourne.”

Buick es una marca de automóviles premium y de gama alta de Estados Unidos fundada en el año 1899 y propiedad del grupo industrial General Motors desde la fundación de este, en 1903. Desde sus inicios, los modelos de Buick se sitúan en la categoría de lujo, por encima de marcas como Chevrolet, Pontiac y Oldsmobile, aunque por debajo de Cadillac. Los Buick se comercializaron casi exclusivamente en Estados Unidos y Canadá, con escasas excepciones. A lo largo de la década de 2000, la gama se ha ido simplificando con el reemplazo de los sedanes medianos Buick Century y Buick Regal por el Buick LaCrosse, la sustitución del sedán grande Buick LeSabre y el Buick Park Avenue, por el Buick Lucerne, y la muerte prematura del todoterreno Buick Rainier y el monovolumen Buick Terraza. La gama 2008 presenta apenas tres modelos: el LaCrosse, el Lucerne y el Buick Enclave (un todoterreno).
La marca ha tenido una fuerte presencia en China, destacando en los últimos años la incorporación en este mercado de los minivans, el GL6 y su hermano mayor el GL8. Además de los modelos originales, varios modelos de otras marcas de General Motors se ofrecen rebautizados como Buick, como el Opel Corsa, el Chevrolet Optra y el Holden Commodore.
El logotipo de Buick, llamado Trishield (‘triple escudo’), consiste en tres escudos alineados en diagonal: el izquierdo pintado de rojo, el central de blanco y el derecho en gris o azul.
En México la marca llegó en 1921 y estuvo presente hasta 1996 cuando oficialmente se retiró. Sin embargo, tras la salida de Pontiac, Buick vuelve al mercado mexicano en 2010.
Actualmente, los Buick no se venden en Europa, aunque fábricas como Opel en Alemania fabrican modelos Buick para ser importados a Estados Unidos. (Wikipedia)

Even though I've already put in a submission for #flickrfriday I decided to drop another one in. Similar to my previous submission, this is another bridge that is connected to the set of train tracks near my home. This bridge here is one that goes over a very frequented back road, the same road my mom would take me and my two siblings out for drives to entertain us. Not to mentions the whole road has a spectacular view of a gorgeous river!
ZORROS QUE VIGILAN UN GALLINERO
Siguiendo con el puente “caná” mira por donde, un bote de pesca proveniente del sur, acabó de cruzar el malecón para acceder a La Caleta, ya con el sol poniente, esa hora mágica en ese lugar que no puede pasar inadvertido. Es lo que decía sobre saltar de cabeza desde el puente “caná”, que pasa un bote y a menos que alguien dé el aviso, acabas con la testa empotrada en la cubierta. No consta que haya pasado nunca, pero… y si sí.
Y bajo el bote, tanta historia escondida tras una capa de mar y algunas de arena y lodo. Hubo un tiempo en el que era frecuente encontrar restos de vasijas, ánforas completas, perfumarios, monedas…
Hoy día, lo que quede tras años de saqueo, estará bajo capas de arena, y que a nadie se le ocurra escarbar, que los arqueólogos locales escudriñan con celo “su” tesoro, pues no solo hay intención de proteger el patrimonio, lo cual es bueno, también hay intención de disputarse el prestigio personal, la notoriedad de cada fulano y fulana que forma parte del colectivo copado por unos cuantos avezados, espabilados diría yo, incluso con argucias de corte político, como sucede en todos los departamentos de la comunidad autónoma de marras, en las que unos cardan la lana y otros se llevan la fama. Son como zorros que vigilan un gallinero.
