DALLAS, TEXAS – The Mavericks (22-51) had their hands full tonight at the American Airlines Center against a surging Charlotte team.
Kemba Walker and the Hornets (33-41) just came off impressive back-to-back wins over Brooklyn and Memphis and kept that same momentum tonight against Dallas.
Dennis Smith Jr. made his return to the hardwood after missing two games due to a sprained left ankle and collected 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
Neither team took a commanding lead in the first half and the Mavs only led by eight points at most.
Dallas trailed 54-48 at the half but came out in the third looking refreshed.
The real battle came down to the fourth quarter. Charlotte remained in the lead for the majority of the second half and even went up by 15 points.
Dallas rallied together late to make it a two-point game with less than three minutes left in regulation.
With the Hornets leading by four, Yogi Ferrell banked in a 3-pointer and soon after Nerlens Noel scored off an offensive rebound to make it another two-point game.
Things went south quickly after DSJ lost the ball on a turnover and Walker made the steal.
The Hornets picked up two points off of Marvin Williams free throws and officially put the game away at 102-98.
