We had a full British breakfast in a cafe this morning......not something we usually indulge in. This is Mark after we had eaten!
Finally arrived a few days ago. I'm still trying to get used to the metering of the mark II. It's been a long while since I've seriously picked up an SLR. I'm glad to be back in it for the long run.
Anyway, enjoy.

People have described him as having a serene quality, a person with a big heart - calming...

Hannibal is a city in Marion and Ralls counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. Interstate 72 and U.S. Routes 24, 36, and 61 intersect in the city, which is located along the Mississippi River, approximately 100 miles (160 km) northwest of St. Louis and approximately 100 miles (160 km) west of Springfield, Illinois. According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the population was 17,606, making it the largest city in Marion County. The bulk of the city is in Marion County, with a tiny sliver in the south extending into Ralls County.
Hannibal is not the county seat, but it has one of two county courthouses. There is also one in Palmyra, the county seat, which is located more in the center of the county. This is the principal city of the Hannibal, Missouri micropolitan area, which consists of both Marion and Ralls counties.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910), known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. He was lauded as the "greatest humorist this country has produced", and William Faulkner called him "the father of American literature". His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), the latter often called "The Great American Novel".
Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which later provided the setting for Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He served an apprenticeship with a printer and then worked as a typesetter, contributing articles to the newspaper of his older brother Orion Clemens. He later became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River before heading west to join Orion in Nevada. He referred humorously to his lack of success at mining, turning to journalism for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise. His humorous story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", was published in 1865, based on a story that he heard at Angels Hotel in Angels Camp, California, where he had spent some time as a miner. The short story brought international attention and was even translated into French. His wit and satire, in prose and in speech, earned praise from critics and peers, and he was a friend to presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty.
Twain earned a great deal of money from his writings and lectures, but he invested in ventures that lost most of it—such as the Paige Compositor, a mechanical typesetter that failed because of its complexity and imprecision. He filed for bankruptcy in the wake of these financial setbacks, but he eventually overcame his financial troubles with the help of Henry Huttleston Rogers. He eventually paid all his creditors in full, even though his bankruptcy relieved him of having to do so.
Twain was born shortly after an appearance of Halley's Comet, and he predicted that he would "go out with it" as well; he died the day after the comet returned.

mark was playing the drums when i parked my car at golden gate park. I watched him from above on the street and asked him if i could take his picture. he said sure and kept on drumming. then i moved down to the tunnel and shot from there, making a better picture, i think. later, when i came out of the conservatory, he was surrounded by other musicians, also jamming. i listened (and took pictures) for about 20 minutes. they were awesome, and mark was totally happy, drumming right along. (his buddy)
