Mark Lanegan (born November 25, 1964) is an American alternative rock musician and singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Ellensburg, Washington, Lanegan began his musical career in 1985, forming the grunge band Screaming Trees . Lanegan has also collaborated with various artists and bands throughout his career. Following the dissolution of The Screaming Trees in 2000, he became a member of Queens of the Stone Age and is featured on three of the band's albums—Rated R (2000), Songs for the Deaf (2002) and Lullabies to Paralyze (2005). Lanegan also formed The Gutter Twins with Greg Dulli in 2003, released three collaboration albums with former Belle and Sebastian singer Isobel Campbell, and contributed to releases by Melissa Auf der Maur, Martina Topley Bird, Creature with the Atom Brain Bomb the Bass, Soulsavers and Mad Season..

Not such a successful night.
(a) due to delays on every leg of my journey to the venue [bus > tube > tube], got there late and only got one song in the photo pit. and a short one at that.
(b) it was the WORST LIGHTING EVER. horrid humid red glow. just awful. i was primed with my brand new lens, wide open at 1.4, but still got very little useable.

The Vickers 6-Ton Tank or Vickers Mark E was a British light tank designed as a private project at Vickers. It was not purchased by the British Army, but was picked up by a large number of foreign armed forces and was copied almost exactly by the Soviets as the T-26. It was also the direct predecessor of the Polish 7TP tank. By the start of World War II it was the second most common tank design in the world after the Renault FT.
The first Mark E was built in 1928 by a design team that included the famed tank designers John Valentine Carden and Vivian Loyd. The hull was made of riveted steel plates, 1 inch (25 mm) thick at the front and over most of the turrets, and about 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick on the rear of the hull. The power was provided by an Armstrong Siddeley Puma engine of 80–95 horsepower (60–70 kW) (depending on the version), which gave it a top speed of 22 mph (35 km/h) on roads.

Detail of the complex glazing of the south nave chapel (by Gillian Rees-Thomas) whose wall is punctuated by many panels like this, executed in subtle, light tones.
Formerly a Victorian gothic structure from 1868, it was largely destroyed by bombs in World War II and rebuilt in a contemporary style by the highly indiviual architect George Pace between 1950-67
Pace retained the surviving steeple, but replaced the body of the church with a brand new design, of rough stone without (to blend with the steeple) and light plaster within. The walls are punctuated with small rectangular windows in grid formations, often irregular, a characteristic of Pace's work and one that gives a great sense of light within.
The resulting church is in my mind a great success, a kind of miniature Coventry Cathedral in the North. This is further enhanced by the stained glass by John Piper and Harry Stammers, which adds much needed colour within.
