The Jerónimos Monastery or Hieronymites Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) is a former monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome near the Tagus river in the parish of Belém, in the Lisbon Municipality, Portugal; it was secularised on 28 December 1833 by state decree and its ownership transferred to the charitable institution, Real Casa Pia de Lisboa.
The monastery is one of the most prominent examples of the Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. It was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the nearby Tower of Belém, in 1983.

Historic sailing boat of the Floating Maritime Museum. This museum is situated in the innermost part of the town's canal port, which "was built in 1314 because of the urgent need of the town of Cesena to create an outlet for its own trade. In 1502 Cesare Borgia (il Valentino) conquered the town and called Leonardo Da Vinci in the hope of finding a solution to the problem of sand bars silting up the harbour entrance." visitcesenatico.it/pointofinterests/porto-canale-leonarde... San Francisco, California, National Maritime Museum.
Opened in 1871 as Hull’s Dock Offices, this Grade 2* listed building regularly saw ships sail past its windows in the town centre’s docks. Later, the building became the city’s Maritime Museum in 1975. .

This photo was taken from the deck of the tall ship Duyfken as we returned to port at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, Sydney. We thoroughly enjoyed our three hour cruise/sail.
S It’s going to be a big year for Hull’s Maritime heritage in 2026. Later this summer, Hull Maritime Museum will reopen after six years following an eleven million-pound refurbishment . The museum highlights Hull’s 800-year history as a seaport. At the same time, Hull’s last remaining Deep Sea Trawler, the Arctic Corsair, will be placed in a specially created visitor centre and dry dock after its major refurbishment and repairs . The first part of this trio was the restored Humber Lightship, that has been open to the public for a few weeks . I enjoyed looking round it, but it must have been hard work being part of the seven-man crew . They must have faced some severe North Sea gales in a ship with no engine.
Following a 14-month restoration, the Spurn Lightship is now a floating museum once again. The Spurn Lightship was a beacon of Hull’s waterways for almost 50 years. Built in 1927, it guided ships through the River Humber.The Humber is regarded as one of the world’s most treacherous waterways, and even today, river pilots are required to guide ships in and out. Built in 1927 by Goole Shipbuilding, Light Vessel No. 12 Spurn was based at the Spurn station outside the Humber. The Spurn Lightship never had an engine; the vessel was towed into place and anchored. The crew of seven hands and supplies were ferried on and off. The crew were on station for a month.
The vessel was purchased by Hull City Council in 1983

The James Craig is an iron hulled barque which is based at the maritime museum at Darling harbour, Sydney, Australia. It is good to see it going out for a sail.
Things you never thought you'd say in Vancouver but, as you can see from the very dry and straw-like grass in the foreground, we are (surprisingly) desperately in need of rain, and lots of it. In my 25 summers living here, I don't think I've known one so hot nor with such a sustained period of 'no rain' - two words that rarely go together in Vancouver unless preceded by, "Please tell me there's..."

Aboard the schooner America; replica of the first vessel that won the America's Cup. Maritime Museum of San Diego, California, USA.
After our visit to St. Mawes Castle on the first day of our holiday in Cornwall we crossed the river and went into Falmouth. Whilst there we visited the Maritime Museum.
I saw this display and thought it made an interesting photo - I liked the lights and the different tones, colours and shades of the model boats. I have tried to focus on the lady with the oars but I think I have got it a little bit out and focused on her hand and oar instead which is a little bit annoying!

The Star of India is a historic iron-hulled wind jammer, currently located at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. It is the fourth oldest ship afloat in the United States and the world's second oldest active sailing ship. Originally named Euterpe, it was built in 1863 and has a long history of sailing around the world, including transporting passengers and cargo, and even being involved in the salmon industry.
