Wildflowers Epping

One of my favourite shorebirds... love the deep black and orange, and their halting yet purposeful walk. Iluka

Not a Christmas beetle (Anoplognathus sp.) but nice to see all the same, in Epping.

These long-armed stars make me think of a laid-back person. I don't feel laid-back ATM - so maybe nature is reminding me to "chill, man"! Stradbroke Island

Most of the cuttlefish we encountered in the bay at Port Stephens were mourning cuttles, so it was nice to find one S. mestus. This cuttle is a bit shorter, with yellow trim around the eye and two false eye spots on its back (which vary). It is most often found alone, vs mourning cuttles which is mostly in pairs or small groups. It also prefers sponge or structured habitat, whereas a mourning cuttle is happy over sand. These are all just personal, anecdotal observations

This week's wildflowers from Epping #lockdown; CW fr TL pink boronia, spiny bossiaea, silky purple flag, river rose, fine-leaf bush pea, showy guinea flower, long-leaf star hair and blunt greenhood orchid.

Part of our @reeflifesurvey method 2 search is to look under ledges and in holes for cryptic fish. Every now and then you find a pair of big eyes looking back at you... #lapofaus

Adult blue dragons have beautiful colours and patterns in their cerata. They're not all for show either - they provide energy through photosynthesis and protection through stinging cells in their tips. Bare Island
