It's been a while since I have edited pictures. I decided to play around with Photoshop again. 8)
. . . . in this day and age of the electronic book and the internet, many people believe the demise of the antiquarian bookshop may be imminent. . . . .but as long as there continue to be wonderful shops like this one in downtown Boston, you'll find bookaholics like me haunting them. . . . .
P like Physiognomy, from the Greek physis meaning "nature" and gnomon meaning "judge" or "interpreter"

"What we see is not made up of what we are seeing but rather from what we are"
Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet
This short sentence explains pretty well what photography is. Or at least how I feel this medium.

I'm a happy happy girl. My loved ones, my friends, books, poetry, chai, colors, rain and people they all make me very happy. But gifts? They make me EXTREMELY happy ;o) A rainbow melted in my eyes when I received this beautifully ornate, jewel toned Jaipuri Chappals from a dear friend. They are so comfortable and I'm loving it :)
All my friends wanted to see the rest of the Angharka /Choridar and Dupatta my Khala sent me by Maria B which I posted earlier. I hope it makes some sense now :)
P.S: I posted this shot for my friend Hashim who is making us all proud and trying to be quite the dandy lately :)
Explored :)
Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different. The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.

Agave arms
From the series "Radix" about the remarkable physical likeness man shares with other living things.
From Domestica a series of photographs depicting scenes occurring in daily life.
The work is a simple illustration of the gestures that we have unconsciously, focused on the little changes in the face and body position that reflect a certain fragility in emotional places. These scenes are juxtaposed to exterior images, connecting the intimacy to other physical realities which give a sense of infinity. Trees, plants and water being some of the most consistent elements in life and on earth.
In combination with nature, the photographs form a synthesis of ordinary moments always incomplete and peripheral, as a friend who is swimming and the whirlpools of her wet hair follow naturally fig tree roots and shapes. The human body shapes are disrupted with natural elements, following the same lines. It's about creating a connection between people in their own built spaces with eternal and distant landscapes, from the core to the outside world.
My Khala(aunt) sent me this outfit (angharka with choridar) from Maria B. and I'm lovinggggggg it....Sleeves made up of beautiful hues delicately embellished with dabka and kora embroidery along with small little motifs all over upper part of the sleeves and silk thread tussels with ghungroos attached in sleeves...What you see in the pic are one of the sleeves and a thin embroidered line u see on the left hand side is the opening of angharka and you fasten this with tussels or loops..In my case its silk thread tussels with little jingle bells :)
Angharka is very similar to kurta and falls to knee length and are fastened by loops above the waist you can get an idea what angharka looks like even though its the most ordinary looking and merely attractive but the closet one I could find online ;)
Choridar or Churidar are trousers with bangle like gathering or wrinkles snug around the ankles but loose at the hips and thighs mostly worn by people from the Indian subcontinent (typically with a kameez or kurta (tunic) or Angharka) Choridars are my fav and if you wear choridars with kurta or angharka it gives you a very eastern touch :)
