Juvenile ruby-throated hummingbird photographed in Tioga County PA. Stretching the muscles before the long trip south.
Taken at the Fort William marathon earlier this year. Still miles to go and the empty road stretches ahead.
The Marathon Dam is a gravity dam on the Charadros River, near its junction with the Varnavas Stream, 8 km (5 mi) west of Marathon and 45 km (28 mi) northeast of Athens in Greece. The dam created Lake Marathon for the primary purpose of municipal water supply. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, it was the sole supplier of water to Athens until 1959. The dam is often cited for its role in the modernization of Greece and the first recorded case of seismic activity associated with reservoir inundation. It was also designed to be symbolic of Ancient Greece, particularly Athenians and the Battle of Marathon.

So I decided that enough was enough.
Sitting on a high stool in a bar, talking about getting fit "soon", wasn't really getting me anywhere.
It was time to take the plunge and go.....running.
I found this website that promised that you could run 5k non-stop within two months of starting the program - and you didn't have to pay over any money, take any drugs, promise any sexual favours, or sign up to any religion.
Brimming with enthusiasm, I made my way to a local sports shop, and left with a pair of Nike Air shoes for €60.
I have no idea if these are the correct shoes for my feet or for what I'm trying to achieve, but I guess any cramps and blisters will tell their own tale.
I hadn't really realised that feet came in so many shapes and sizes until I had a read up on "picking the right running shoe" after I'd bought these ones. A few miles down the road and they seem to be ok so far.
Anyway, I think I've got pretty normal feet. Maybe I should post a shot in the foot fetish groups to get some wider opinions.
Now, off for that run.

Old adobe brick motor-court front office on the left and perhaps a former cafe/store on the right, on US 90.

Well we are now official Georgia residents. Not the move I wanted to make but FL is getting pretty expensive… hopefully we’ll make it back there someday. ST Augustine is still my goal for a final destination!
Leyland Marathon 2 VPE441S was originally a demonstrator for Wadham-Stringer at Croydon. Subsequently purchased by Adams-Bristow Ltd for specialist low-loader/abnormal load work, mainly involving marine craft.
Purchased a short time before the company's demise, this vehicle was moved to an undercover storage location in the early 1990's and had remained there until recently, when it was started-up and made able to move under its own power. Seeing daylight for the first time in many years, it was washed-off and then returned to the shed to await a new owner, for whom restoration will be a relatively easy task.
