In 1971, I got the nice KPQ FM map. Boasting a far signal reach from high atop Mission Ridge Ski Area, the artistic map also featured a collage of listener reports from the mail.
I was so impressed by the range that I used this map to make up my own Washington State network consisting of two stations. It was make believe.
Since those years, Northwest Public Broadcasting, based in my hometown of Pullman, has one of their stations on Mission Ridge. NWPB has an impressive map of stations including their Mission Ridge location.
While KPQ got reception reports from all corners of it's range, the signal is more boxed in, these days, due to other stations on the same and nearby frequencies. I've never been able to pick it up west of the Cascades.
An interesting fantasy network would be to have transmitters on Orcas Island, near Bellingham, Tiger Mountain near Seattle, Mission Ridge near Wenatchee and Mount Spokane.
These days, stations rely more on the internet to extend their range.
In theory, this map allows visitors to describe their local ramen, or their favorite ramen from a certain locality. I added Okinawa soba. Others added scribbles, graffiti, and random nonsense.
I've been reading A Game of Thrones and started looking at the map in the front of the book. I thought it was so neat that I'd try something along that line.
I've never done any type of cartography before and thought this was rather fun, but rushed. It's actually SUPER hard to put together a well designed map... I had no idea.
I'll probably end up either fleshing this out greatly, or starting on something new with MUCH more detail.
It's very hard to get tiny finger typography on the map so I was using icons to reference cities. We'll see where these ideas take me.
Either way, I've had painter's block again and this was fun to pull me back in.

The ridiculous map that Mareno drew for me. There's one street on the map, labeled "street." There's also one building on the map.
Whitby Street, Hartlepool, Cleveland, UK.
Hartlepool is a north east sea port 12 km north of Middlesbrough, founded in the 7th century AD. It became the official port of the County Palatine of Durham. The developing shipbuilding industry in West Hartlepool made it a target for the Germans in the First World War. Rapid industrial decline occurred after World War Two, resulting in much unemployment and dereliction. During the 1990s massive public investment revitalised the town, resulting in improved prospects.
• Whitby Street runs off Church Street. It is most fitting that this well appointed fish shop should be located here. Whitby is a North Yorkshire fishing town.

For the weekly Scavenger Hunt at TWTME: Map
From my grandmother's atlas that I rescued when nobody wanted it. I love this old book, where Oslo is still called Kristiania, and where I can find bits of flowers and leaves from when my mother, uncle and aunt used it to press flowers for their school projects in nature science.
Btw, they say Norway is so long that if you flip it south, it would reach all the way down to Rome. With the crappy weather outside my window right now, I've two (or is it three?) words for you: Let's Go!

Map of Scotland, control room, nuclear bunker, Troy Wood, near Anstruther. The markings on the map are from an exercise in the early 90s. I think the wee coloured mushrooms indicate nuclear targets.
This is our current working map of the spheres. Note that some of the spheres already explored have a shorthand listing of the system (this will be added to periodically as the group explores more territory further away from their home sphere.)
Inside of map. Sadly, I had to settle for this smaller version. When it was scanned and emailed to me, its was a beyond huge size that no matter how many times I tried, could not download all the way with my lame dial up. The bottom half wouldn't come through, it was just gray. I emailed it to a friend who resized it to a managable size
I still have the huge version in my inbox, if anyone wants it emailed to them for whatever reason, I'll be more than happy to send it to them
