A £1.50 purchase on ebay, and all I wanted was the map in the back! It's from October 1967 and in the back of London Transport's Underground Guide, full of timetables, frequencies, and general information. Cover price one shilling! A thoroughly interesting read.

It was only recently that the official Metro map got all solid lines. They used to show future extensions in a hatched pattern. Yet they still have the design in the legend - see upper-right-hand corner, showing the "planned station." There are no "planned" stations!
A different problem exists with the two pop-outs (other than just clutter). The one on the left points at the location where half of the Red Line trains end. And the one on the right... well, it points to the end of the Yellow Line, but to have parallel structure with the other pop-up, it should point to Mt Vernon Sq, the early turn-around point for some Yellow Line trains.

My son loves maps, so and old embroidered map of Denmark was cut apart and sewn together with some vintage fabric to create 3 pillows for his bed. He loves them !
Boat Log Sept 10th 2011 – Southern Small Detached Reef
Diving the detached reefs was on my “ Diving To do” list I suppose because it was close the barrier of the reefs yet offered sheer wall diving with the possibility better than normal visibility , plus I was hoping to reacquaint myself with the silver tip sharks which I have previously only seen around the coral sea atolls.
We parked for the night before behind Log Reef and early in the morn we ventured out to the coral sea thru the Providential channel . Incidentally this is the channel Captain Cook used to re-enter the protected waters behind the barrier after being belted around by the severe Pacific ocean swell over 200 years ago, so I felt a bit of history as we headed into the 1 1/2 meter swell .
Next question was how the hell do we anchor??? It’s a smallish triangular reef with a protected nth westerly side , but even it had sheer walls that dropped straight down 80 meters. Fortunately there was a small sand patch on top in one spot as shown in the pic (A)
on the edge of the reef and which was just deep enough for me to nose into and secure the anchor…just holding precariously as shown in pic (B).
The light 15knots of wind was enough to keep our boat away from the reef (pic C)and we jumped in for an amazing dive just before low tide .
Drifting along at 25-30me we were delighted with a procession of glorious 2-3 me Silver Tip Sharks and a couple of greys. Vis was about 20-25me, maybe not what we had hoped for but still good for silhouettes looking up. Our safety stop was 30 minutes of fun with all the nemos and interesting stuff on the reef top and when we climbed back on the boat we both felt exhilarated by our first real wall dive for a long time. So much so that I made the decision to stay the night dangling from the wall with the anchor alarm on in the hopes we could get a high tide slack water dive in the morning before the trade winds picked back up……Big mistake Rob…by 9pm the wind had calmed and the weight of 95meters of sagging chain dragged us to the reefs edge and the current started pushing us over the reef. All I needed was it to jam the chain in a wall crevis and i was really in the poo.
I really dislike moving the boat thru reefy channels in the night but thanks to my saved track and Raymarine GPS were able to beat a hasty retreat without incidence to Log reef….it really makes me wonder how captain cook did all this with no charts and worst of all …no GPS!!!!

The reason some sections require side-by-side roads instead of double deck structures is poor foundations on landfill and airport height limits near SFO and Moffett Field. The ultimate conclusion was that it would be expensive, disruptive, and difficult, and that it wasn't possible to make a serious estimation of the value of doing it until some decisions had been made about the Bayfront Freeway (route 87).
Also of interest: the Route 84 freeway along Willow Road, and the sharp turn to the northwest that it takes above Interstate 280. Route 17 is signed as temporary Interstate 280 and temporary Interstate 680. Route 92 was planned to bridge over Crystal Springs Reservoir.

Uses attribute table and the "Create Indexed Vector Grid" plugin what I wrote. Going to have to re-write this for QGIS3 and for Processing framework.. and allow fixed size cells (the grid cells were meant to be 10km x 10km but are more like 8.5km x 8.5km)

The Arctic Ocean is one basin that is mostly covered by sea ice, and is connected to the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The countries in this region are Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Greenland (Denmark), Canada and Alaska (USA).

The topo maps were leftovers from my dissertation field work in geology in the early 1980's.

This turned out better than the last time I tried it but still has problems at the coasts, particularly on the south and west, where almost all the potential destinations are inland so that direction dominates more than it probably ought to.

What appears to be a cartoon-ish, clown-like head on top of a post is actually the scanning device for the Apple Maps car, stopped mid-motion by the short exposure duration. The car is a Subaru Impreza.
