Day 185 of 365.
Day 35 of B&W
I was showing a friend Lightroom and how to use it, and we started talking about shooting people an dhow I'm pretty much avoiding shooting models because i'm too scared of having to deal with the situation and managing a shoot where I'm in control rather than just being a photographic observer not involved, just capturing.
She finally turned to me and said "Man up!"
I really have to get out of my hermit stage and take control of managing shoots rather than just observing and capturing.

In Strasbourg, France.
This image was made with Enfuse by combining 3 differently exposed images (EV -2,0,+2). The aligning (and defishing) was made in Hugin, but it didn't turn out that well... hmm. Some more experimenting is needed I guess.

This starling and I have a relationship. You see it has a nest under the tarp in a boat that I sometimes stand next too to shoot the Osprey. I learned if I back up a few steps the starling will go ahead fly to the boat and go under the tarp to feed it's babies.
Maybe I take being responsible too far? I don't know. While I have been called righteous for my beliefs, hardcore or not, I always try to do the right thing by nature. I am in their space... always........ I respect that. It would do no good to shoot the Osprey nest and allow the starling and nest to suffer.
While some might say well it's just a starling - it still has a place in this world. It would make me a hypocrite to shoot the nest while causing harm to the starling nest.
As simple as I can say it..... animals always come first. Photography is my way of telling the stories of nature, not telling the stories of Kim via photography. I am not so delusional to think that every shot or close up I get is going to make me famous or appear in National Geographic - far from it. It's not about me, it's about the animals.
I never waiver in my beliefs. I have firm thoughts on what is right and wrong. I doubt that will change anytime soon.
In the world of Finiky --- Love and respect for nature means learning to not be selfish --- knowing when to say when and knowing the difference between helping and hurting. Sometimes it's hard to know the difference between helping and hurting. I'll grant you that.
If I find a situation that is wrong and or there is something that can be a teaching tool I have no problem in documenting the issue and or moment. If that means calling Fish and Wildlife then so be it. Usually that is a last resort.
Having said all of this..... I will be posting documentation of the Osprey nest only- as for other postings of other stuff I shoot....I will not be updating as much. In short it is sort of a break from Flickr for me. I will be checking email and visiting.
Walk the talk. ...
