Rural Fraser Valley at Abbotsford. Looking toward Sumas Mountain.

Not to many years ago there were not houses up there!

Agriculture still reigns in this area but a substantial bedroom community also exists!

The Chungking Mansions are a weird place to stay. We walked through but would not want to stay there. I expected it to be multi-cultural but in fact it turned out to be just the central spot for a whole army of Indian guys trying to sell copy watches...

It is estimated that 5000 people live in this 17 storey, 5 block building. Nestled in the middle of one of the busiest shopping areas of the city.

Old colonial mansions with overhanging wooden balconies line a street in Cartagena, Colombia.

One of the mansions along Lake George.

Was a residence not so long ago.

Constructed 1843

These buildings are in one of the oldest residential areas of Launceston. If you can imagine taking away all the modern innovations from powerlines to the cars and paved road, this scene looks much like it would have in the 1860s. Perhaps with the addition of a few horses and carriages.

York Mansions, which we see in the centre of this picture, was built in 1840, making it one of the oldest existing residential buildings in the city.

Originally built in 1840, this apartment block makes an impressive sight.

Composite buildings are a common feature of the architectural style of Hong Kong buildings that were constructed in the 1950s and the 1960s. Info from wiki.
