This wooden mankind looking elephant with his enormous feet is one of the weirdest in my collection and one the tallest, about 56cm. It has a African look and I'm not sure if it has a meaning or just made for fun.
It reminds me a preacher, who telling us to seize the day. So lets do that en enjoy ;-))

This being my second visit to Rome, I made a point of not taking a guided tour this time, but simply letting the busy streets take me to the places previously visited, admiring and enchanting me with the unexpected architectural details.

I don't have the answers to mankind's depravity and the human condition. One of the elements that breaks my heart every time I'm exposed to it is those who prey on the weak and innocent. Try as we may we will never be able to rid the world of these reprobates and their incessant drive to hurt those who don't deserve it.
What we can do is love, understand, and empathize with those who are scarred or are being tormented. We can't turn the other way and pretend it doesn't exist and where ever and whenever possible we must protect the innocent. We must be the proverbial "Holy Water" and be a healing stream in the lives of the broken and abused. Make it your goal to offer a cup of cold water this weak and make a difference in someone else's life.

In a time of absolutely excessive digitisation and a fight against our own history it would be necessary to stop for a moment a to remember. Where would we stand today, if there were not uncountless people who wrote down their knowledge and their experiences on paper. On what would we built our future ? I have my doubts that some hundret years from now USB sticks, harddrives our clouds
will reach the same importance.
This here, is the oldest paper I own. It belongs to a chant book printed in 1883.

Wo wären wir heute, wenn es nicht unzählige Menschen gegeben hätte, die ihr Wissen und ihre Erfahrungen zu Papier gebracht hätten. Worauf würden wir unsere Zukunft erbauen ? Ich habe meine Zweifel, dass USB Sticks, Festplatten und clouds in ein paar hundert Jahren den selben Wert erlangen werden. Dies ist das älteste Papier, was ich besitze. Es gehört zu einem Gesangbuch was im Jahr 1883 gedruckt wurde.
Johannes Gensfleisch, genannt Gutenberg (* um 1400 in Mainz; † vor dem 26. Februar 1468 ebenda), gilt als Erfinder des modernen Buchdrucks mit beweglichen Metalllettern (Mobilletterndruck) und der Druckerpresse. Die Verwendung von beweglichen Lettern ab 1450 revolutionierte die herkömmliche Methode der Buchproduktion (das Abschreiben von Hand) und löste in Europa eine Medienrevolution aus.

I tried to think of something that would make one Smile and I kept coming up blank. So I thought maybe I can photograph my contender in a kinda funny way??? The Safety Pin...I pinned a fallen leaf back on to shrub hoping it would stop the leaves from falling.....(and winter coming)

President Barack Obama is in Hiroshima, Japan today. He is the first sitting U.S. president to visit, Hiroshima Japan and said that "mankind possessed the means to destroy itself". Unfortunately, I am afraid that the way things are going presently this is quite possible, he also called for "Moral Revolution" and I personally, join him in that call!
More than 120,000 people are still alive having survived the horrors of the atomic bombings in 1945. We must make a worldwide concentrated effort to avoid this ever happening again!

A mokoro is a type of canoe commonly used in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. It is propelled through the shallow waters of the delta by standing in the stern and pushing with a pole, in the same manner as punting.
Mekoro are traditionally made by digging out the trunk of a large straight tree, such as an ebony tree or Kigelia tree.
