Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker …..it has been three days I have been coming to this patch and no sign of the Singh..why me..let me introduce my self…I am the best reporter in this region…. just like you humans have bird watching magazines.. we birds too have our human watching magazines thro out the world…..while you i.d and tell your people about us birds we till our birds about you’ll. .usualy how to avoid humans. ...i am the best ..i have followed people like James Eaton ,Rob Hutchinson and David Bakewell(David B)…all top notch birders….me the Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker….now I am just wasting my time waiting for the fool Singh..it all started some days ago…I was having a good time with two of my girlfriends..(usualy there are more….i am good looking….lol..)..this stupid stool pigeon comes by and says my boss the Chief Editor wants me now.(.the old Vulture)….leaving my tasty pieces of females behind.. I went ..i had too ..he pays me….flew into his office and the vulture was perched on his chair….parked my self on the low perch and said Boss what’s up…he glared at me and said did you read the headlines in the other human watching magazine…our sales have dropped….flustered I asked what does it say….he said you haven’t heard….since four years this Dr Singh birder…has captured rare birds and photographed about 500 birds and was close enough to touch their tails feathers….the bird world in Malaysia is stressed out and not forgetting the migratory birds ..they complain that no sooner they reach the patch..he is there grinning at them…now this your job ..follow him while he birds and see how he does it …but one thing ..don’t you get caught by his camera…or you are history..but Boss I have tailed legends like James , Rob and David,they didn’t even knew I was there…this….this nincompoop..is hardly a challenge…the old vulture says…no but you are the one for this job….
…so shish…here I am waiting for this idiot to come birding…oh 3rd day and no sign of him..then suddenly this maroon car comes and parks just 10 feet below me on the side of road…out comes a chap with a tilly hat(wonder how he got a tilly hat..must have picked it up at the damster in frasier’s hill)…oh my he is hairy and his whole face is covered with white beard..yes yash…what a ugly looking specimen .parks his un-retracted tripod on the grass verge and then takes out a bozzaka like camera..oh my… Kowa TD1…not bad for a ugly looking Singh…fixes the camera to the tripod…then starts extending the legs…first two he does it fine while the 3rd leg is facing him..he extends the 2nd joint first and then rams the 1st joint down…and the tip with full force ram’s between his thighs s(groin area)…with a croack ..down he comes holding on to his crown jewels bet his legs…I collapsed with laughter..wiping tears from my eyes..i said to my self…this job is a sinch..lol..some passer by helped him up and he finely trott’s off into his patch crying…'D....i am following about 12 feet behind..every time he stops…I fly to a branch behind him and perch….have you’ll seen a herd of angry elephants walking in the jungle…he is much worse…lol..so on he went and me behind…then I heard a hissssing scream….followed. and .saw this young snake..crying and hissing…by the side of the path…perched on a branch 4 feet above I said …friend stop crying and tell me what happened…in between sobs he say my girlfriend warned me about this Singh and told me when you hear his footsteps please don’t lie on the path or you will get stumped..i replied if he tries that I will nip him on his twinkes and in a minute he will be stiff as a board…crying he say’s…I saw this little lizard across the track..i just pushed my little tail about a inch on the path and started to wriggle it hoping the lizard will think it is a worm…next thing I knew is this agonyosing pain on my tail end..i wiped back and bit this shoe that was flattening my tail..next thing I knew both my fangs were gone , riding on the toe of that shoe…oh why does a Singh has to wear Steel-re-inforced toe caps on his shoe under the shoe lather…crying he say’s …see now tailed flattened and no fangs what will I eat….the stupid Singh..i flew off laughing..lol..…finely…I see him getting excited…thank God he has found a bird..quickly I go and perch just above his head on a branch….look down…oh my a nightjar…stupid bird…it doesn’t see the Singh..he get’s closer..and then I hear the splash…he,he…he has just stepped on a huge cow shit….oh my …the smell is to much for the Singh..coughing he backs off and the nightjar flie’s off laughing…holding my sides with my wings…I laugh so loud that I am hanging down the branch…shaking his fist he goes back to the path which leads out of the patch…quickly I fly and perch my self on a stunted cherry tree near the entrance ..and waiting for this Singh birder … I wonder how he gets pictures of us….as I am waiting…I notice a concrete exposed area on the path just before leaving the patch…must be some old construction….suddenly this crow carrying a banana peal fly’s over and drops it on the concrete patch…laughing he set’s on the tree across me and shouts…hi you are the hi fi reporter aren’t you ..watch this my friend…I said why did you drop the banana peal there…laughing he said…Dr Singh is coming out…he always parks the kowa about 7 feet from the slab and then walks on the slab and looks at the patch before leaving…watch the fun..……I quickly fixed my mini camera on a branch and focused and noted the exposure correction was perfect…waited…. then he came and parks the kowa…as he walks on the slab…his right foot comes down on the banana peal..oh glory be…up he flies and comes down with a thumb on his back....ohhhhhhhhh…I at once clicked my shutter with my beak and caught him flying…then holding the branch with my right wing…I laugh and howl with glee…I can imagine the headlines in our magazine…flying Singh(with picture)…hits the ground with a thumb….who thinks he is a birder…no threat to birds but good for a laughs…(Dr Singh’s thoughts..lol..)…..as I reached the patch..i felt eyes on me..people believe it…..so at my usual blunders as I birdered …I could hear muffled laughter and later some time a hhhhhhhissing scream…behind me but I continued birding..then saw the nightjar…then curse it I missed the nightjar.. shot would have been my best..now the whole shoe is smeared with sh*t..have to go back and on the way to reached the entrance
….then as usual. .parked my kowa and then walked to the concrete slab to have a last look….i had already retracted the tripod…but the camera was still attached to it…as I was looking at my birding kingdom I walked on the slab….my right foot came on some thing slippery..,,,yacks…I was flying…then with a thumb landed on my butt….looked up and saw birds and stars..shaking my head….the images cleared around me…then I heard this metallic tissit..tissit of laughter and also the loud laughing of the crow ..crawled to my camera….looked thro the scope..14 feet on the entrance of my patch on a stunted cherry tree..this loud mouth was sitting just 5feet off the ground and laughing…tho in pain quickly focused and took the first picture and then the 2nd and after taking the 3rd…it looked back at me…and saw me and my kowa …with a loud screech..it took off saying..zzzzzzzigggg….(.Translated-)-- I am sunk…he’s got my picture…it will be in People's Bird Mag.…my boss is going to kick me …I collapsed laughing..Old Singh saying..NEVER LET BLUNDERS BLIND YOU TOO WHAT IS AROUND YOU WHILE BIRDING…loll….

I saw this Lion approaching the water hole and realized
that a small opening on the trail on which it was walking
was the only hope of getting a clear shot before it reached
the water hole, as the trail had many distracting bushes.
Pre-focusing the camera on this opening I waited for it to
arrive before taking this one while panning the camera.
