A manhole cover in Doesburg

If you look good you see the name of this city in the first row and written upside down in the last row.

Last year I started listening to books while walking and I realized I look down more than up when doing so. I know I am missing lots of beautiful things and bird songs. On the other hand I also enjoy the books.

I decided to capture some of the thing I see now.:

Re top left, I often see crosses and stars in paving stones and don't know what they mean.

Top middle: I call these President Obama's seals as they are left over from the 2015 G7. I didn't know until then they map out a route a president will take in a car if the helicopter can't fly and seal up all manhole covers on the side of this road. These are quite faded now but I have seen new ones already for the G7 this coming June.

Top right: I am sure a child left this wonderful message, perfect for walkers who look down.

The manhole covers on the left are just that, some of them I find have a beautiful pattern or colour, like the middle one, always liked how they painted it.

The two tiny green circles are probably left over from bollards and they filled with dirt and grass eventually.

The bottom right one is from our driveway, the cracks between the stones always fill up with interesting tiny plants.

Around the neighborhood

Maybe it's a well known fact, but I had never seen (or paid attention to) the post horn, used in the logo of national post services of many countries. It was used to signal the arrival or departure of a mail coach, in the 18th and 19th centuries. By the way, Magyr is Hungary in Hungarian! Never too old to learn...

I've been looking for a zoom lens for my iphone 12 mini, but I can't make up my mind. The ones that I like( because they're clip-ons easy to use and light) have bad reviews. Others are more complicated. Can you guys give me some help?

I came across this winter nightscape on my way to a shop. As you can see, a full moon and a starry sky are not mutually incompatible.

The title of this photo was inspired by the song of the same name recorded by The Police.

FOR TUEsday's TEXTURES.

I liked how the bright blue autumn sky was reflected by the wet metal of the cover and drain. The yellow leaf was what first drew my eye.

So no, I did not put the leaf there.

Wet metal? It had rained a few hours before.

Shot seen and taken for Saturday Self Challenge 25/01/2025 --

Chairs .

I did work on a shot for the challenge using one twelfth scale dolls house furniture , but after taking and processing the shot I felt the chairs did not stand out enough for the challenge and posted it as a normal shot in my photo-stream ( as seen in the first comment box ) .

Anyway , I did spot this little scene in the village and grabbed a quick snap or two with the P&S that I had with me . This is a pretty wide shop ( like two knocked into one ) set up to sell vegetables - not just the regular ones but many other exotic vegetables as well . After a while it started offering hot drinks etc and now it has tables & chairs inside and out and has generated a very good reputation for it's café business as well as it's produce . With the wide pavement here they have seating next to the building and a row of bistro type tables and chairs along the kerbside with shoppers walking in between the outside seating .

Well it was tricky to find a music track this week until I recalled a track from " Threshold Of A Dream " - " Are You Sitting Comfortably "

I just love all that this simple observation implies about the workmen that thought that was OK.
