There's really nothing like a fresh mango. I shouldn't be surprised by the fact that mangos (and other "exotic") fruits taste a whole lot better when eaten close to the vine as it were. I won't forget the juicy facefulls of nectar and all of the awkward moments of sticky fingers these things left me with.

This is Mango, Paris's housemate and they grew up together. She pined when Paris was put to sleep so Eddie and Shirley have got a new dog to cheer her up. He's called Bryn. He's a lovely Collie X. pics in a couple of weeks.
I was trying to explain to someone the way I cut up mangoes and couldn't find this picture ANYWHERE, realizing that I took it like a month before my wedding and probably had other things on my mind than adding pictures to flickr. Also, it's a little blurry. Ah well, it looks like summer, and I wish I could taste it right now. Soon enough, I hope...

Green Mango/Zumbador Verde (Anthracothorax viridi) photographed while visiting the feeders at Don Jose "Pepe" Gonzalez home in Utuado, Puerto Rico. Feb. 28, 2022. The edge of the red feeder was digitally removed.

I photographed this Black-throated Mango (Anthracothorax nigricollis) at the Jardín Botánico del Quindío in Calarcá, Quindío, Colombia, on July 17, 2018. The Black-throated Mango feeds on nectar and favors the flowers of tall trees. The male's outer tail feathers are metallic magenta-rufous with dark blue edges. Females have green upperparts without the male's bronzy tone. It is found in Panama, in every mainland South American country except Chile, and in Trinidad and Tobago. The garden's butterfly house is a large open-air vivarium, home to more than 30 butterfly species native to Colombia. IUCN lists the Black-throated Mango as Least Concern, with a stable population.
I made this frame with a Pentax K-1 and the HD Pentax-D FA 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6, at 1/250 sec, f/5.6, ISO 400. The regional environmental agency, the CRQ, has also entrusted the garden with eight hectares of natural forest in the Barbas Bremen forest reserve, near Filandia and Circasia.
