Today we had a visit in our garden from one of the urban foxes that lives at the local allotments. I have never seen them in our garden before so it was quite exciting for me. I tried to get a good shot out of the kitchen window without scaring him but he soon took off when he heard our doorbell (at the front of the house!). Unfortunately the poor thing has very bad mange on his back end and his tail has almost no fur at all. So I have ordered a homeopathic remedy which should improve the condition in a fortnight if he eats the dog food i'll leave out for him. I hate to see them looking so poorly.

I'm fairly sure this pretty little fox has mange, a parasitic mite that burrows into skin making it very itchy and causing hair loss, subsequent scratching aggravating more hair loss. Can be so painful that an animal doesn't eat well or even search for food, leading to death.
You can see the areas this fox is able to reach with her teeth, for scratching, are suffering quite a bit of hair loss, on her tail and hindquarters.
Damn.

Ce nid était situé à proximité du lac des Minimes, endroit très fréquenté du bois de Vincennes. Le passage des promeneurs ne semblait pas les gêner le moins du monde .

This nest was located near the Lac des Minimes, a very popular place in the Bois de Vincennes. The passage of the walkers did not seem to bother them in the least.
