Love this little guy and well he had to come home with me :D

I made these mandrake botany books for Harry (& Ron and Hermoine when they arrive-) . Meant to make the mandrake plants in their pots with the earmuffs but short of the supplies needed. So I concentrated on the little books, still making more.

Je me suis beaucoup amusée à aménager cette mise en scène du rempotage des mandragores dans la salle du donjon des sorciers.

Ce rempotage est inspiré de la scène mythique avec la professeure Chourave dans le film d'Harry Potter "La chambre des Secrets". Pour les amateurs, comme moi, des romans et des films d’Harry Potter, vous pouvez revisionner cette scène culte sur Youtube (www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTKDRGTyeqA).

Pour ma scène, j'ai fabriqué les deux mandragores en papier avec un feuillage en 3D.

La Mandragore ou Mandragore officinale (Mandragora officinarum) est une espèce de plantes à fleurs, de la famille des Solanacées. C'est une plante herbacée vivace des pays du pourtour méditerranéen. Voisine de la Belladone, cette plante, riche en alcaloïdes aux propriétés hallucinogènes, est, en raison de la forme anthropomorphe (vaguement humaine) de sa racine et de ses composés alcaloïdes psychotropes, associée depuis l'Antiquité à des croyances et des rituels magiques. Par sa composition chimique, en petite quantité elle est notamment sédative et narcotique, antispasmodique, anti-inflammatoire (en cataplasme), hypnotique et hallucinogène. Elle présente des propriétés aphrodisiaques lui conférant une vertu fertilisante, et des propriétés sédatives dont Platon parle dans La République. Toutefois, certains composants nocifs pourrait entraîner une intoxication mortelle.

Pour se procurer la racine de mandragore si dangereuse, il fallait des rituels magiques. Selon la croyance, celui qui arrache la mandragore sans précaution, s'il ne devient pas fou en entendant les hurlements de la plante, sera poursuivi par sa malédiction.

Chegou um monte de PL aqui, da coleção passada e da atual, e eu não sabia qual usar primeiro. Acabei escolhendo esse holo lindo e combinei com o Something Old que tb chegou ontem.

Achei esse glitter bem mais interessante no vidrinho do que nas unhas, mas gostei da combinação. Assim na foto nem tá tão legal, mas ao vivo tô curtindo as unhas.

Agora não sei qual PL usar em seguida.. Acho q vou de algum da nova coleção.

Mandrake is the common name for members of the plant genus Mandragora belonging to the nightshades family (Solanaceae). Because mandrake contains deliriant hallucinogenic tropane alkaloids such as hyoscyamine and the roots sometimes contain bifurcations causing them to resemble human figures, their roots have long been used in magic rituals, today also in neopagan religions. It is alleged that magicians would form this root into a crude resemblance to the human figure, by pinching a constriction a little below the top, so as to make a kind of head and neck, and twisting off the upper branches except two, which they leave as arms, and the lower, except two, which they leave as legs.

While a family of Wood Ducks was raised here this spring and summer, Young Mandrake now appears to be the only representative. I see him often in this pond and northwards on Golden and Peninsula Ponds — always the only WODU present....

To understand why I've named him, see the next two images. Also, it helps if you're of a certain age where you know that Mandrake was a fictitious magician in popular literature a very long time ago!

My first full MOC in a fair while, and a tricky one too.

This is based 'loosely" on the Mandrake scene.

Professor Pomona Sprout, is giving Harry etc, a lesson on how to handle Mandrakes.

I found this tricky to photograph.
