Looking east from Crone Wood, Glencree, towards "The Great Sugarloaf" and beyond to the Irish sea.
This granite mountain is quite small at 501m but because of its isolation it appears much bigger. It is my favourite mountain and I live in the valley to the east of it. I see it every day as it is visible from my home so Im very lucky.
My Dad used to carry me up it as a child before I could even walk so that probably explains "the madness!".
In a way, hes still carrying me in his arms up my mountains and I like that.

Its becoming very slow on this site recently and plastic manafactured images are taking over. Im question1ng if its really worth the effort anymore as it takes an age now to get 100 faves which is what I try to get before putting up another image.I have so many photos to put up. About 200 and it doesnt look like its ever going to happen. Perhaps the quality of my photos arnt good enough anymore.
Between all that and rude offensive administrators of some of the groups here of which I have had 2 in the last month. I dont do offensive. People with any type of artistic leanings dont. Obviously the rude ones on here dont fall into that category as Ive seen there efforts. Asks the question why they are here in the first place! Certainly not worth paying for anymore.

I see someone has said" Lovely Layers " in the comments on this photo. This photo is not layered.Its obvious! Its been cropped and the exposure has been darkened slightly. Apart from that it is exactly as taken. Any photos that I do layer, I always say so. I try not to manafacture my pictures on a computer screen as I dont need to , and always say when I do, to the the odd arty one..
The nicest comment that has ever been made about my photos was that they "were good honest ones!"
Sorry for getting annoyed but some people should learn how to take photos before making stupid comments on others.

Within 5 minutes of this I received another message from another administrator who moaned at me about people who put photos in wrong sections of groups. I have not got a clue what they are talking about.
I then received another unsolicited message from another opt out group founder member who proceed to instruct me on how to take a landscape photo! His ones are manafactured on a computer, by the way!
I have responded to these 3 abonoxious, grossly ignorant fools and so far there has been no response.

Ive had this selection of photos on my computer for a year and a half and Ive only put them up here lately. I do like them but being "green" I thought there was too much brown in them. Ive been proved wrong though as apparently brown is ok too!! I should thank Van "the man" Morrison really!
It takes me about 20 minutes to drive to a parking spot on the Roundwood road, at Glasnamullan wood where I start this walk up White Hill [620m] on the Wicklow Way. There is a holy well close by where I park, but it was sealed years ago because of health and safety. megalithomania.net/show/site/51/Glassnamullen.htm Its a pity as the old stile and stone steps leading to it by the small river. Its a very pretty place to sit and its below the road so its very quiet. Ive found the position of the well and Id love to open it and have a look. Of course, these wells would probably be pagan in origin and would have been places of pigrimage for the ancient Celts untill the Christian Church wiped out all traces of our culture, or tried to! There are always cures associated with these places and all sorts of aiments could be cured such as warts and rhumatism or notions about being a good photographer!!! Some were dedicated to the godess " Sheela Na Gig " who was an ancient fertility godess and women used to use the water in the hope of becoming pregnant. There is a Sheelas well in Delgany but its now also sealed.

I always walk up through the wood as an approach to White Hill. Its full of red deer and Ive seen red squirrels there as well but they are very shy creatures.I heard my first greater spotted woodpecker in Ireland there about two years ago.
Eventually it comes to a fence which I climb and it brings me out of the wood which you can see in the photo. Its pretty boggy but once I get across the small stream, its easy to follow the deers trails which criss cross the place and can be seen as green tracks in the pic. I do a circular route that takes about 2 hours. The photo is taken looking east, at the start of the climb, towards the Sugarloaf and the Irish sea. However there is a lot more to it as when I took this I was living in Greystones beside the sea. I have now moved 6 miles s/w and further inland. The large hill on the extreme right, is Mount Kennedy and Im now living just below it to the left, in Newtownmountkennedy. Small place with a big heart and a huge name!
If you zoom in on the left hand side you can see the Scots ridge way pines which were used by the RAF and Luftwaffe during the war as direction and location reference points as they can be seen 30 miles out to sea off the coast of Wales, UK. They are heros and my favourites!! See my Scots Pines album [They Also Serve] for the story.
Sat, 17th March is St. Patricks Day and Im planning a bit of a celebration. Im going to Dublin to the parade which is truly something. Lots of people come here for it. The majority would be German followed by English,American, Asian and Australian. Its a great party and everbodys Irish for the day, and I love that!! Anyway I lived in England for 20 years,An uncle was in the NY fire brigade, another one married Gretel who was a German lady and Sean O Brien, an ancestor was sent to Austtralia in 1846 for sheep stealing. There were rumours though and I have my own theory!!! Lol!!! Behave!!!

The former Arrol-Johnston 1913 built Car Factory at Heathhall Dumfries. A marked simularity to the Ford Car factory at Highlands park Detroit Michigan plant built in 1909 by the same designer Albert Kahan. The only complete concrete framed structure in the UK. Car manafacture ceased in the late 1920s and was then taken over by North British Rubber, which became uniroyal. The final occupant was interfloor which vacated the building in 2013. Subject to Arson and vandalism attacks perhaps the front of this grade B listed structure could be restored. They are building 80 new houses alongside so a bit of an eyesore for the new and some older residents of Heathhall.
when i started the 365 project, it was never my intention of letting it take over my photostream, but it sort of has lately. and it is what it is, but i would really like to get back on track with posting other photos, i have hundreds waiting to be edited.
so soon.
i actually got to go out shooting in salem, ohio for a few hours this morning. the demise of manafacturing ever present along with small town decay. as an added bonus, the sky was super cool. my mom drove me around, which was crazy fun.
the perspective is kind of awkward and i look a bit goofy with the wide angle, but i'm cool with it. :)
The Domes of Casa Grande. Once an aspiring electronic manafacturing plant when construction started then stopped in the late 70's early 80's. Made of concrete and a hard yellow foam. It has now started to collapse and is scheduled to be demolished in the near future.
After more than 125 years in Baltimore (Dundalk/SparrowsPoint) Bethleham Steel Sparrows Point is currently being demolished a sad sight to see. To much of our industry and manafacturing and jobs in the US has been lost. My grandfather was one of those more than 30,000 that worked at Sparrows Point which at one time was the largest steel mill in the world, he worked at Sparrows Point for 32 years retiring in 1979.

A view of Sparrows Point (Bethlem Steel Mill Baltimore in the distance currently being demolished after closing for good about 2 years ago. Opening around 1887 as Pennsylvania Steel and Bethleham Steel took over in 1916 and was there until the late 1980s? after that there had been several differant steel co. operating the huge mill. From 2000 on went into bankruptucy closed then reopened, etc and went through this several times since 2000 until the steel mill closed for good a couple of years ago many jobs lost. At one time there were almost 50,000 people who worked there at one time. and it was the largest steel mill in the world at one time. Years ago before I was born we had a family member that worked at S.P for several years. So sad to see more industry and manafacturing dying in the US. Also pictured in my photo is Ft Carroll which has been abnadoned for many years and the birds enjoy it now as their sanctuary. A drive by shot. My grandfather was among the more than 30,000 who were once employeed at Beth Steel (Sparrows Point) he worked there for more than 32 years retiring in 1979.
The first generation of the Nissan Primera was built from 1990 until 1996. European model were manafactured in Nissan's plant in the UK. It was also sold in North America in luxury form as Infiniti G20.

A kit based replica of the AC 427 Cobra, manafactured by DAX Cars who were based in Harlow, Essex. Built in 2006, and powered by a 6.3L engine.
The Holden Nova was a rebadged version of the Toyota Corolla and was sold between 1989-97 in Australia only. In this case it's the (E90) generation, but was also sold for the (E100) generation. It was manafactured in Dandenong at the now closed GMH factory there which also built the Corolla AFAIK. This example also has the passenger side taillight replaced with the original Corolla taillight which shows the difference, and also how similar they were. This example was complianced in October 1993 and registered in January 1994, as I can ascertain from reg check.
This was the result of UAAI, which was between Toyota and Holden and lasted between 1989-97. The reason for this rebadge was the Button plan, implemented in Australia between 1984-97. The Button car plan, also known as the Button plan was the informal name given to the Motor Industry Development Plan, an Australian federal (Labor) government initiative intended to rationalise the Australian motor vehicle industry and transition it to lower levels of protection. It took its name from Senator John Button, the federal Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry.
Holden initially teamed up with Nissan in 1984, where the Nissan Pulsar was sold as the Holden Astra. Later Pulsar and Astra models in Australia used Holden-sourced powertrains. This arrangement dissolved in 1989, and General Motors–Holden's and Toyota formed United Australian Automobile Industries (UAAI). The vehicles produced as a result of this joint venture, the Holden Apollo (Toyota Camry), Holden Nova (Toyota Corolla) and Toyota Lexcen (Holden Commodore) lasted until 1996 for the Holden-badged derivatives models, and 1997 for Lexcen.
Needless to say, it flopped and these examples are just the product of the plan. I will however, try to find a Nissan Ute, if possible, which is a rebadged Falcon Ute. That was also a product of the plan.

This piece is about having an open mind and understanding the idea of construct and how your creative mind and general understanding is bound by your socilaisation and the rigid hierachies and norms of existing culture. This piece is about exploring the mystique and immersing yourself in other cultures with an open mind. Not to be bound by rigid logics, rationalisation and authourity as this surpresses creative thought. It's about stripping back your own constructs and learning alternative ways without been bound by the sceptic that you have nurtured. The piece is inspired by Castenada directly, and of Huxley's doors of perception and the shamanic representation is of something I may have once just dismissed completetly but if you approach all this with an open mind then you can become enriched and blessed by ideas. The message then is to try and embrace alternative belief systems, cultures and ideas without prejudice and cycnism and to realise that we have such a rigid and manafactured world view at times that we need to try and break from this restrictive rational in order to fulfill our potential.

Joe Maxwell - Motorcycle Engineer
As a society we almost always associate backstreet businesses with producing substandard products, but this isn't always the case. In fact the backstreet businesses of our towns and villages are often the home of what remains of our once proud manafacturing base. Its people Joe, I particularly like to photograph, people who are still making and producing things with their own hands.
It being a Saturday nothing much was going on and and as I passed the open door to Joe's backstreet factory/workshop I saw he was there. He kindly let me take these portraits of him. Joe is the cousin of James my neighbour who restores the vintage motorcycles, so being mechanically minded obviously runs in their family. In a workshop stacked with equipment and machines from another era, baring names of their manufacturers all of whom have long since disappeared, Joe rebuilds engines, makes new frames for motorcycles and according to his website also has a hand in designing and fabricating sub-sea excavation equipment.
Portrait taken using Minotla 5d, kit lens and available light only(mixture fluorescent lighting and daylight. Joe is resting against a jig he has made to help him weld custom motorcycle frames more easily.

Chr.) sind in Bereich der Königsplastik Statuen in einer aufwendigen Kompositetechnik häufiger anzutreffen: Kopf, Hände und Füße aus wertvollen und farbigen Materialien (Halbedelstein, Quarzit, Glas) wurden in den aus Kalkstein ausgearbeiteten Körper eingesetzt, wobei Augen und Krone nochmals seperat eingefügt waren.
Die idealisierenden Gesichtszüge mit dem leichten Lächeln sind typisch für die sog. Nach-Amarnazeit, also die Epoche der späten 18. Und frühen 19. Dynastie. Aufgrund stilisticher Vergleiche kann man dieses Köpfchen Sethos I. zuweisen.

Head of Seti I Composite Statue
Since the mid-18th Dunasty (c. 1450 BCE), elaboratly manafactured Composite statues of Kings are frequently encountered: the head, hands and feet made of precious and coloured materials (semi-precious stone, quartz, glass) were used on an elaborate limestone body, eyes and crown were also inserted seperately.
The idealised facial features with the light smile are typical for the so-called post-Amarna period, the period of the late 18th and early 19th Dynasty. Due to stylistic comparisons this head is assigned so Seti I.

Seti I (or Sethos I in Greek) was a King of the 19th Dynasty. He was the son of Ramesses I and Queen Sitre, and the father of Ramesses II. Historians have suggested several different dates for his reign, with 1294 or 290 BC – 1279 BC being the most commonly used by scholars today. Seti I's reign length was either 11 or 15 full years. Egyptologist Kenneth Kitchen has estimated that it was 15 years, but as there are no dates recorded for Seti I after his 11th Year, and as he is otherwise quite well documented in historical records, other scholars suggest that a continuous break in the record for his last four years is unlikely.
After the enormous social upheavals generated by Akhenaten's religious reform, Seti I (along with predecessors Horemheb and Rameses I) had to work to re-establish order in the kingdom and to reaffirm Egypt's position of power, Seti leading several successful military campaigns
Seti I’s well preserved tomb (KV17) was located in the Valley of the Kings and was discovered in 1817 by Giovanni Battista Belzoni. His mummy itself was not discovered until 1881 in the mummy cache (DB320) at Deir el-Bahri.

A rare and desirable classic supplied by A Church & Sons (Horncastle) Ltd. HPI checks show an active registration but no documents have been located."

This is Greg and he is one of the homeless community of Chelmsford in ESSEX
I have driven past him on many occasions whilst he sits with his belongings outside a currently un-used shop unit on Moulsham Street - its not uncommon to see him politely passing the time of day with shoppers. On a few occasions, including today, I have seen a small group of students from the local college sitting crossed-legged round him enjoying a laugh and a smoke whilst on the way to or from their studies.
During a break between customers I decided to go chat to him and see if he would be interested in being included in my 100 Strangers project.

I parked up in a side road opposite where he spends his days and wandered over - I introduced myself and explained my reason for being there - he seemed interested and agreed to me taking his picture, which I did, and we then chatted.......
Greg and he is 37 and was born and bred in South London.
He became homeless in 2009 when a decision to move back to Sweden went "pear-shaped" - he travelled to Stansted Airport and due to a "cock-up" on his part and a miss-understanding over money, was put on a bus that took him to Chelmsford where he has remained ever since.....
Initially Greg spent his nights in the Chelmsford CHESS Night Shelter but for various reasons decided to move out on Xmas Day 2009 - since then he has lived on the streets but maintains contact with the CHESS organisation and every two days visits their shelter for a shower and freshen up.
His daughter, whos name he prefered not to tell me, was born in London in 2000 and then moved to Sweden with her mother.
Greg met his daughers' mother when he worked in Sweden for about 7 years. During this time he worked for a company (TWR) as an engine and electrical engineer - TWR were responsible for producing the Renaul Clio V6 Sport. Greg has also worked as an engineer for Hallberg-Raccy who manafacture high-end Yachts.
During his time in Sweden, Greg obtained Swedish Citizenship and became fluent in Swedish (spoken and writen), as well as Norwegian, Danish and German.
He is currently unable to look for work due to health issues but this is being treated and he hopes to be able to get back into employment soon - he is a trained Electrical engineer but only has certification to the UK 16th Edition, the current requirements are for 17th Edition - unfortunately the Job Centre are "unwilling" to facilitate the upgrade of his certification.
We chatted for about 20 minutes and during this time it was clear that he is obviously a clever and very intelectual person who is polite and very easy to talk to - He doesn't appear bitter about his situation, and infact says that most of it is down to him "F***ing up" - it wasn't apparent if he was begging or not and I didn't ask - he did tell me though that he gets the odd sandwich from a couple of the local cafes in the street.
I really do hope he is able to sort things out and get back into the system and find work soon.
I thanked him for his time and gave him my card, however, he doesn't have access to a computer and asked if I would print out a copy of his picture along with this narative - obviously I agreed and will do so in the next couple of days.

This is a Firestone Airchief model R-1661-A. It was manafactured in 1936-1937. It has 7 tubes. A great performer with a rich, deep bass tone coming from an 8 inch speaker.
This is an Automatic Radio Manafacturing Company model 850 from 1937. Automatic Radio Manf. Co. was based in Boston, Mass. Unusual brass eye tube escutcheon plate.
Here is the chassis view of the RCA T64. Since RCA was big in the development of TV they were manafacturing radios with a TV jack on the rear of the chassis.
I didn't locate the keyboards for these pipes.
I'm beginning to wonder what the Victorians put in their paints to make them hold their colour so well. Did I read somewhere that besides lead, arsenic was used in paint manafacture?
