2005 MAN 17.223 Designline B51DW
You don't have to be in Wellngton long to realize that the trolleybus operation is a little half-hearted. Trolleys don't run in the evening or at all on weekends, and all routes are subject to diesel substitutions up to complete replacement for lengthy periods. On this, my first day, it had been about two hours before I saw a trolley on route 1 at all. Thereafter they operated alternately with diesels.
These big MANs seem to find the trolleybus turning circle a bit tight, and run on to the far end of Reef Street to turn.

Designline trolley buses and a MAN 17.223 at Wellington Station - Wellington, New Zealand
A weather "bomb" was on its way. Rain & high winds were expected to damage the overhead wires. So trolley buses were ordered to return to the depot. But as seen here, trolley buses were placed back into service for rush hour as the high winds had not yet arrived.
