Today’s Prompt: Fruit
I chose blueberries on the bush! I used a quick fill and then began a painterly style of blending colors to create depth, shadows, highlights.

How to sew like Danny Mansmith:
By Alexis Ortiz
Decide on a piece of fabric. Cut the fabric or not, depending on whether you have a size or shape in mind. Lets say you don’t, or haven’t thought that far (I haven’t). Choose a color thread… or just use what’s already loaded and start [to sew]. You may want to sketch an image of something (anything, it could change later) or not… it can be completely “free-hand”. Remember: this is not “free-motion”. The dog-feet should still be up and then there’s the knee lift that you’ll have to engage over and over again, that slightly lifts the presser foot so you can get some of those tighter turns/switchbacks. And voila! 5-10 years later you’re sure to be amazing! Just like Danny Mansmith!
This is an assumption mind you; you will have to sew a lot almost everyday of the week and it’ll also help if your machine is an industrial because more often than not you will be sewing through multiple layers of fabric, paper, vinyl, leather and/or interfacing.

Today’s Prompt: Finger
I took a clue from Pauline Ridley on shading— she used her finger prints, so I found a blotchy brush to mimic that for my shading. And, of course, I could not resist to resist and expect “Peace” with my hand in the gesture of the 1960s peace / love sign.
A bit of serendipity again, since this prompt and response fits with my Daily Create today of my ceiling/wall, which proclaims, “Bless Everyone — No Exceptions,” the true meaning of love by Jesus.

Hymn in the Mountains
In the mountains of Highway 20 in the summer a green lake beckons travelers to stop and gaze at nature’s beauty, though the lake is a reservoir behind a large dam. On hot days, this highway— in the North Cascades —is a cool and scenic drive. Closed in winter due to avalanche danger, it draws visitors as soon as the road opens again. Lately, the highway has been closed in summer, due to the wildfires of global warming.
In 2017 we drove across in July, enjoying the mountain heights and forest greenery, breathtaking views and a respite from the heat of the valleys of eastern Washington.
Stopping at Ross Lake, we found no other vacationers in the usually busy highway rest area of scenic views. As we stepped out of the van, the reason for few people blew us, literally, back into the car. We pushed the doors against the wind and let them slam back closed after grabbing our jackets. We turned our backs against the wind and spun around to put on each sleeve, finally able to wrap the jacket tightly around and lean against the wind to walk the paths and stretch our legs after hours of riding.
At the edge of granite boulders, gazing down across the tops of pine and fir, we witnessed the wind surfing the emerald lake with waves and ripples easily viewed from our vantage point far up the mountain. And the whistle of the wind and the “EEEE” of the pika hiding in the rocks sang to us as the only evidence of other companions.
Emerald waves raced
forest shore to more, hymn
by wind and pika.
