She is making bread, but what is this woman thinking about? Her husband? What she was reading by the fire last night? When I ask that question, I think of Spinoza, the 17th century European freethinker. Let's toss our assumptions about her aside. So I asked NotebookLM to do a podcast about how new ideas in the 17th century found their way to the middling sort in England.

A very important morning routine for my hubby, making his coffee. I don't drink it but he has to have his pot of filter coffee every day.
Definitely Dreaming 'hands' theme. 10/52
With my evening plans of chasing the Jail south to Leslie killed off by the crew telling me they were going north to Lansing. I left Mason for Grand Ledge instead to light up train L304 heading west to Lake O. When I arrived I made quick work of setting my flashes but that was very quickly put on a dead crawl as I heard something walking through the Tall Grass. With the first lights set i went to figure out what the hell was following me around. Well as I neared the moving grass I saw a dark cute Little cat but it was no cat it was a fucking cute little skunk. Him and I talked for a few minutes and made an agreement we would not interrupt each other. Me foaming him looking for tasty bugs, as I set the lights I saw him several more times and he never gave me any fear or issues. As the crew worked the west end of Ensel they would trip the circuit and the signal popping up to clear.. after the 5th time of this and me grabbing the camera I gave up and sat in my car until I could finally hear the far off distant humm of 645's. A pair of 40-2's and a small train cruise through Grand Ledge passing the former C&O search light.
Captured this morning. This little warbler was making music this morning in the forest>
This one is for my friend Ralf :-)
Thanks for your inspiring bird shots!
Do you know, in all my 48 years, I have never made a rainbow and when it appeared I was really WOWED!! Obviously I realise it's the same way the beautiful big ones appear in the sky, but it's never happened before and I'm just going to let myself believe that this one was a special gift just for me ;-) Anyway, got something extra to keep me occupied through the rest of lock down now :-))
Stopped to take a shot of some horses in a pasture at the base of Apex Mountain and this one came over to see what I was doing. Near Penticton, B.C. HFF
Doing what we can until Spring finally arrives (which won't be for awhile...more snow is coming tonight or tomorrow).
Happy Wednesday to you all :) I'll be catching up today!!
Here's to a good school year! I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best for these kids. Our sky is still highly polluted from smoke, yesterday we had the worst air quality in the world again. The sunrise was red so I had to try to capture it quickly and then get the day going. New schedule, new school year, hold on tight.

Someone once told me that as you grow older time seems to go faster...and boy is that true. On April 18th my daughter will be turning 4 already and this past Thursday I turned 36 myself. The older I get the more I start to realize what truly is important in life. Does it matter what car I drive? How big my house is? How much money I make? Do I have the latest greatest things?...well ok I do need the best camera gear :) but really...Is any of that really important? When our end comes what will truly matter?... If we are lucky we will have those special moments to remember. The ones that make us smile from the inside out. Those moments that were so impactful that you can feel yourself right back there at that time.
April 14th I picked up my father at 4:00am and we headed off to Chance Cove, NL which was an hour away. We shared some laughs along the way as our warm beverage woke us up. Arriving at our destination an hour before sunrise we headed off on our 20min hike which found us descending down a cliff side to a secluded beach. There was only a breath of wind and the waters were calm(well for Newfoundland standards anyways). As the sun began to rise the clouds above us came to life. Of all the times I have witnessed a sunrise this one topped them all. The cloud formations were amazing and lasted for over an hour. Even as we sat around our fire eating breakfast the clouds were still magical.
Being able to spend this time with my father meant the world to me. Sitting in silence and listening to the water as the color faded out of the clouds was a great reminder that life is about creating memories just like this....
Usually solitary, monk seals sometimes get together. A young, molting female (foreground) was making her way to the water after spending the night in the beach strand naupaka shrub. This male came ashore nearby and galumphed over to greet the female. They both lay in the sun for a while then go their separate ways. The male is RO40 “Ka’ena” born in 2006. The female is known as “Lina” RL98.
Endemic to Hawaii, this species of monk seal was established in the archipelago millions of years before the human populated main volcanic islands emerged above sea level. The original seal occupied islands have since receded to coral atolls and are part of Papahānaumokuākea. Recent population estimates indicate a slight increase to 1,570 individuals throughout the Hawaiian archipelago. However, Hawaiian monk seals remain endangered and among the rarest of marine mammals.
