FOOD
I prepared the food that I am taking to lake Mungo tomorow. Missing from here is fresh salad which I will be collecting tomorow on the way.
Gotta love the crazy old wallpaper at our new house. Crazy!
What I have learned from several trips away is that I plan to spend plenty of time eating, but get so excited, and out of wack with the time and dont eat enough. The reality is that I only take food that is pre-cooked and I can literally eat on the go. This way I do actually eat.
I always take plenty of water. I have 10 litres of spring water. This is plenty of water for 3 days. And I always end up bringing back food and water, but where I am going it can be a long long way from anywhere, so I always take enough that if I get into trouble I will have a bit to live on. I know this sounds a bit dramatic, but many many people have perished in the Australian outback from being unprepared.
I am starting to get a bit excited now!
I have a meeting in the morning, then will be home, pack the food and get away!

me, back in january 1979 (i think), making cookies at my mom's house
this is one of the prints mom gave me for christmas, part of a file she had from taking photo classes back at this time. it's also one of the only photos i have of the kitchen at her old house, that we lived in for five years -- so i absolutely love seeing it again in this image.
and i look so serious! don't mess with me when i'm baking cookies!

The former Belmont Row Works now fully restored and in use by BCU in Eastside.
Could even go a bit father down Belmont Row, before turning back to Cardigan Street.
It was the Headquarters for the Eccles Rubber and Cycle Company, and it housed rubber manufactory, built in 1899. By 1918 it was occupied by the Co-Operative Society, which used the premises to make underwear. In 1931 the factory was making pianos, and by 1941 bedsteads.
Gutted by a fire in 2007. Left derelict until work began to restore it in 2020.
Next I use 35mm / 1 3/8" Forstner drill bit to drill a shallow hole in the wheel. This gives me a step in the wheel rim. Remember it is important to keep the edge with the pencil mark against the fence at all times. This keeps all of the holes I drill centered.

I decided to try out something I had not done in awhile, splash photography. This convinced me that another flash is definitely going to be my next purchase.
Nikon Sb-600 1/8 to the left of the glass.
Paper making setup. The soaked junkmail paper was blended in a blender to make the paper pulp. A couple picture frames and fiberglass window screen were used to make the screen and deckle.
There's still a lot of empty space. I'm taking my time and enjoying this one, as I know I'll miss it when it's finished.
I had some old clay pots sitting around so I figured out what to do with them. I always wanted to try my hand at making those cute little cactus and succulent gardens anyway. Turns out, I'm not half bad at it... plus, it could be a perfect gift idea!

Week 8 / 52 - 22nd Oct- Memories, On Monday I went to Heron Island in the Great Barrier Reef Queensland, My son got a Job there as an Apprentice Chef, so while visiting him after his first big move away from home we stood on the Jetty watching the Green Sea Turtles making new memories to enjoy
