The interesting bit is that the curves are, as I believe, sections of circles, the axes tilting 22.½° as you go around. If you plotted the centers of the circles, it would look something like a Pringle's potato chip. So, you probably shouldn't think about it. Because there are way better chips available. Like Mr. Tayto's Cheese and Onion.

Late last year or early this year (2014) I saw several videos on You Tube about making lipstick at home. TKB Trading sells the lipstick wax mixture (pale bag standing up behind the bottles), liquid dyes, liquid pigments, powered pigments, melting cups, assorted tools, and a two piece mold for pouring the mixture that has been melted in the microwave oven. See www.tkbtrading.com/index.php for details.

In this photo I am holding the two piece mold that has been cooling in my freezer for an hour while I cleaned out several old lipstick tubes. The front row includes several powder eye shadows (red, blue, silver, and black) that I added to the mix for both color and texture. The little bottles are liquid red, carmine, and black dyes FDA approved for cosmetic use as well as a bottle of mold release and one containing a scent.

The lipstick wax is zapped in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time until liquified. Then I stir in the liquid dyes and powders with a bamboo skewer until I get the color I like. The inside of the clean mold is coated with the mold release agent, and I pour the HOT liquid lip color mixture into the mold. Then I chill it for an hour.

The other photo shows a completed lipstick bullet, a bullet with a tube attached but not pulled out, and a bullet mostly in the bottom part of the mold with me getting ready to attach a lipstick tube.

As you can see, I have tested my product by applying it with a lipstick brush to see what it looked and felt like before pouring the hot mixture into the mold. My goal was to make an ultra-dark burgundy plum lipstick that is darker than anything available in the store but not quite black.

Now, you can enjoy that nice loaf of bread at home... but it's even better to share it with friends and family... whether they're expecting it or not...

(Many thanks to my pals Bill and Dutchie for their dramatic gifts -- see above. And yes, they got to keep the loaf!)

Not the best photo as this was taken on a Sunday afternoon at a very busy street market in a reclaimed area of Johannesburg. They really enjoy what they do.
