On October 17th, the GATEways Outreach Program hosted their first Makerspace Workshop for the public. Our wonderful interns taught the public about the importance of sustainable water, compost, art, food, and energy practices through compost bin creation, leaf rubbing art, pumpkin decorating, and energy saving night lights.

Strengthening #Heritans executive functioning skills, Grade 8 students were taught how to work with Power tools and were asked to make functional furniture for both school or home using their own unique creative and innovative ideas during the Build your Future Maker Space elective classes 'Making Functional Furniture with PVC.'
Different types of Makerspace activities help students unleash their creativity.
This is great and is staffed for about four hours a day. A team of staff are trained in all the tools.

Note: ceiling. furniture all flexible so equipment can be moved around under any of the above configurations. vents are rotational to allow flexibility. vent direct to outside. Note: projector for display - this space can be used for teaching with drop down screen for classes.
Gracen Clark, 8, works on coding on an iPad at Avoca Elementary School on Friday. Clark is learing how to arrange the tiles in the correct order to get OSMO to mover around the screen and collect treasure.
