Marian Wright Edelman said it all in this poster at the Chicago Cultural Center. And we need to hear this more than ever.

We are at a point in American history where, even before the black boxes and flight recorders are pulled from the bottom of the Potomac, before the affected families were even able to grieve, Grover Cleveland II was blaming a recent mid-air collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter over Washington DC not only on the helicopter pilot, but on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Forget the fact that there have been aircraft collisions in the United States long before now, both midair and on the ground, at a time when the only jobs women and people of color could get in an air traffic control tower were sweeping and mopping the floors, emptying the wastebaskets and ashtrays, and making coffee. Grand Canyon, 1956, Pacoima, 1957, Clark County, Nevada and Brunswick, Maryland, both 1958, and New York, 1960, among others.

There hasn't been a fatal mid-air collision between two commercial passenger planes here since 1960, and a passenger jet and a private plane since 1978. A stellar air traffic control record.

When asked how he knew the collision was based on DEI, he snapped, "I have common sense."

But I have to admit, Roy Cohn taught him well. Keep hammering home an untrue message, every chance you get, and eventually people will believe it.

The 2022 BBC Make A Difference Awards Presentation dinner at the Hilton Doubletree hotel at Brayford Pool Lincoln. A lovely evening, great to meet other nominees and some BBC editors and presenters.

In Namitete, Malawi, the best way to get anywhere is to hire a bicycle taxi. Young men from the village drive them and they've built a seat onto the back of their bike on which you sit and hold on!

Each month we donate books to the book drive we're doing for establishing a library in Lesotho, Africa. We hope to collect 1,000 books by September 30th. At that point we will sort and then ship them to the African Library Project. They, in turn, will ship them to the library we will be establishing in Lesotho with the books we collect.

Conscious Alliance is a Boulder, Colorado based national 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization committed to the redistribution of much-needed food to the impoverished communities of the United States. Operating through ongoing, grassroots food collection and hunger awareness programs throughout the U.S.—mostly by organizing food drives at concerts and sporting events—Conscious Alliance donations directly benefit America’s local food pantries and impoverished Native American reservations. Since their first event in 2002, Conscious Alliance has hosted hundreds of food drives at music festivals including Bonnaroo, Power to the Peaceful, and All Good and for concerts by such artists as Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Dead, The String Cheese Incident, STS9 and many others. The net result: the redistribution of over 1 million pounds of food – and counting!

The Make a Difference Area at Summer Camp is located just outside the main walkway to the Moonshine Stage and hosts a wide variety of nonprofit organizations. We hope that the education these groups provide at their booths and during panel discussions in the Soulshine Tent will increase your awareness of important environmental and human rights issues, and inspire you to get involved and take action in a positive way…both locally and around the world!

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

It might be rainy and miserable, but we're still out there getting the job done! Brian and his team at Quartech kickstarted the site preparation for tree planting later this year on this gorgeous property in Gippsland, Vic.

The farm is home to Emma from Glorious Googies and her 1,200 free-range chooks. And this winter it'll undergo a facelift with 37ha of the property revegetated with nearly 30,000 native trees. Emma said "The area we’ve chosen is steep and rugged – and should never have been cleared in the first place. Working with Greenfleet provides us with a great opportunity to leave a legacy beyond what the two of us and our chooks could ever hope to do."

Find out more about how Glorious Googies is working with Greenfleet to turn these hills into a beautiful native forest: www.greenfleet.com.au/News/TabId/264/artmid/2986/articlei...

Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an international grassroots network of students who are concerned about the impact drug abuse has on our communities, but who also know that the War on Drugs is failing our generation and our society. SSDP mobilizes and empowers young people to participate in the political process, pushing for sensible policies to achieve a safer and more just future, while fighting back against counterproductive Drug War policies, particularly those that directly harm students and youth.SSDP neither condones nor condemns drug use, but seeks to respect the right of individuals to make decisions about their own health and well-being by encouraging honest conversation about the realities of the drug war and promoting youth civic engagement as a critical tool in reforming drug policy.
