More at the Food For Thought cafe!
"Food for Thought is a quirky little indie diner where you can get great comfort food at a fair price, have fascinating conversations, find new friends and discover simple ways to give back to the local and global community.
We believe in serving the community. Part of Food for Thought’s profits go into social causes that we support - including School of Thought’s Financial Aid Scheme for underprivileged students. Tap water is also served free here but you have the option to donate to international well-building projects instead so that other people may have free water someday as well. We also try to work as much as possible with local farmers, local cottage industries and collectives to support small businesses with a heart. "
At the end we had this, a very thin layer of pastry at the bottom with apple rings soaked in something very good and wonderful ice-cream on top.
We are now recovering and have no intension of having anything else to eat this evening!

The main course was veal in a superb sauce with small roast potatoes and some watercress.
I'm sure that my Mum used to make a dish very similar to this when we were younger.

Our special lunch for today.
We both forgot to buy something for starters, so we boiled up some eggs and Graham made one of his special sauces to go with them. Jolly tasty and not too filling.
It was then roast pork, with roast potatoes leeks and cauliflower, served with apple sauce and gravy for me.
All very tasty and we've got lots of extra treats for this evening.

Join the fun here, FOODcember 2014 building challenge. We all love fried chicken so much, we usually eat fried chicken with rice and chili sauce though :) …and KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) is the largest fast food chain brand by far in Indonesia, my home country. As far as I know, even our McDonalds biggest sales are from fried chicken not burgers :D

The plated foods are sweet, symbolizing a Sweet New Year.

Friends of ours are in Brittany at the moment having a holiday with their son. They came over to Perros today and took us out to lunch at "La Crémaillère" our local restaurant. Well worth eating there, great food and excellent service.
Mike and Graham both had this for their main course and both of them said it was very good.
Excuse the lack of photos of all the courses and different meals we all had. I was having a rather poor camera day, but was also enjoying an excellent meal and good company.
Much better viewed large.

13th September 2018:
Julie and Mike, friends of ours are over in St. Malo for a short break. They very kindly spent 2½ hours driving over to Perros to take us out to lunch.
Julie was one of my tutors when I did my further education studies and soon became my Mentor and friend. We worked out we'd known each other for over 40 years while having lunch today.
This was my main course, scallops and prawns wrapped in pastry with delicious vegetables and sauce. Served with courgette, broccoli and rice.
I took a lot more photos, but the light was causing horrible problems and this was probably the best one I got, sadly.

Red Eye Gravy with Quail is a dish that combines the rich flavors of country ham with the aromatic notes of coffee. The gravy is made by frying a thick slice of country ham, then making a pan sauce with the ham drippings. This sauce is typically served over grits or biscuits, but this version is served with quail instead. The quail is seasoned with salt and pepper, cooked until browned, and then combined with the gravy to create a flavorful meal. The dish is a testament to the Southern culinary tradition of combining unique ingredients to create a dish that is both traditional and innovative.

Jalapeno Pepper Chicken Soup
Alot of people are passionate about their jalapeño poppers. They've been stuffed inside chickens, turned into taquitos, even reimagined them as egg cups, and now they're being used to inspire this creamy soup. Loaded with shredded chicken and diced jalapeños and topped with cheddar and crispy bacon, it has everything we love most about the classic appetizer.

This recipe has all the savory flavors from lasagna but is overall lighter. This soup is tomato-based and has a beautiful balance of spices with the addition of sweet Italian sausage and fennel bulb. Both the sausage and fennel add a level of depth to this recipe that elevates it out of tomato soup territory and into, well, lasagna soup territory. This recipe has comfort food written all over it.

Peking duck is a classic of Beijing cuisine and has extra crispy and shiny skin and is usually served in very thin slices and wrapped in some form of crepe. Using chicken is certainly untraditional but will give you similar results at home. The chicken is coated in a sweet sauce that will produce that iconic shiny and crisp skin. You can serve it in a tortilla with lots of scallions or eat it as is! This will really change up your ordinary chicken dinners for the better!

Slow Roast Mexican roast pork recipe gives a traditional Sunday roast a spicy, vibrant, Mexican twist. Heat from scotch bonnet, and the fragrance of zesty grapefruit add some warmth to this hearty recipe. The pork is smothered in a paste with grapefruit zest, then cooked in the oven with the grapefruit juice, scotch bonnet chili and onions, bubbling down to a spicy gravy. The chili in the drizzle is mellowed by the citrus juice, which also adds important acidity to the finished dish. If you’d rather leave out the chili however, just use the spring onions instead.
