I really like these for them being just an every day set. http//:sweetsugarbelle.blogspot.com

Astrid thinks the US Postal Service is in the business of delivering treats door to door. She stalks our mail carrier, Nancy, all over the neighborhood. She's been known to jump in the mail truck and root around for the treat stash.

I just love these miniature figurines. They are so life like. For this particular photo, I was working on the Macro Monday theme “In a Row”, and just arranged them in a way to respect the theme rules and also create a pretext to have them standing in a row. And what’s best than waiting to receive mail? Well, of course, this excludes waiting to receive bills. ;-)

Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments.

This was our "mailman" for the 6 years we have lived in our house. I asked him for this this portrait just a few weeks before he got switched to a different route. I am very glad I was able to capture this portrait when I did!

Steve (below) speculates that the tall man might be a mail carrier.

Hamilton, Ontario had started rural mail delivery in 1908.

In the foreground, Mail Carrier 146 on their bicycle in the left foreground is facing south on George Street and waiting for the lights to change before heading off with a large pile of parcels in their front basket. I assume that Mail Carrier 146 works for Australia Post

I was looking east down Bridge Street (as is the mail carrier!), which runs east-west across the northern portion of Sydney's central business district. Although it looks considerably further above, it is only 500m to the far end of the road.

Sydney's first 'permanent' building was constructed on what later became Bridge Street. It was towards the far end of the road as seen above.

The Aboriginal-themed banners seen on both sides of the road are actually Christmas decorations as it was just a couple of weeks before Christmas Day when I took this shot - in seriously baking heat...

Sculpture adorning one of the large, downtown Post Offices in Philadelphia. I'll guess that the hat on this mail carrier is about twelve feet from the ground. I was standing straight when I took the photo.

Mural on an outbuilding of the Gasthof zur Post (in English: "The Coaching Inn") in the centre of Kochel am See (in English: "Kochel by the lake"), Bavaria, Germany

Some background imformation:

The Gasthof zur Post in the centre of Kochel was already built in the 14th century. It was located favouably on the route from Munich to Innsbruck in the era of stage coaches. At those times, it was the place for a change of horses. But it was also granted the right to operate a public house simultaneously. Until 1908, the inn was operated by the Thomas Brewery in Munich, but in that year, a landlord and his landlady took over the business. Today, the inn is still a family business run by the fourth generation.

The mural in my picture is painted in the style of the so-called "Lüftlmalerei". It is a popular, folk-oriented variation of trompe-l'œil from Baroque and imitates architectural elements. The name "Lüftlmalerei" derives from "Zum Lüftl", which was the name of the house of the 18th century façade artist Franz Seraph Zwinck. Zwinck did not come from Kochel am See, but from Oberammergau. However, "Lüftlmalerei" spread like wildfire in the villages and towns of southern Bavaria and Austria. Its subject matter ranged and still ranges from the patron saints of houses or house emblems to representations of Biblical stories and the classical motifs of peasant art from everyday rural life to hunting. Today, the nearby town of Mittenwald is renowned for being one of the focal points of "Lüftlmalerei" and visitors can find these murals on the façades of many houses.

The commune of Kochel am See, where I took this photo, is a little town in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. It has almost 4,200 residents. The town is home to the Franz Marc Museum, which is dedicated to the famous German painter Franz Marc, who loved the area around Kochel and also bought a house there. The museum exhibits paintings from Franz Marc and other well-known expressionists (mainly from the artist circle "Blauer Reiter"), such as Wassily Kandinsky, August Macke. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Alexej von Jawlensky.

Apart from its scenery, the Kochelsee (in English: "Lake Kochel") and the Franz Marc Museum, the settlement is known for the Blacksmith of Kochel, who may be considered as a local folk hero. According to legend, he was a soldier in the army of the Holy League during the Great Turkish War. As the word is, he was only armed with a rod when he stood in front of the city gate of Belgrade. With his rod he rammed the gate and forced an entrance for his comrades-in-arms, so that Belgrade could be conquered in 1688.

Later, legend has it that the Blacksmith of Kochel led a Bavarian farmers' rebellion against the imperial troops of the Habsburg Emperor Joseph I during the War of the Spanish Succession. This rebellion culminated in the Sendlinger Mordweihnacht (in English: "Sendling Christmas Massacre") of 1705. In literature, the smith is described as a man of over 70 years of age, yet great in stature and power. For the revolt, he supposedly armed himself with a spiked club of his own making that weighed over 50 kg (100 pound) . In the night of the massacre, the smith fought in the ranks of the rebels at the Sendling Parish Church. There he died heroically, the last man to fall.

The Kochelsee is a lake located about 70 kilometres (43 miles) to the south of Munich on the edge of the Bavarian Alps. The lake lies within the municipal areas of the communities of Kochel am See ((in English: "Kochel by the Lake") and Schlehdorf. It was created during the last glacial period of the current ice age by the Loisach-Isar glacier. The bottom of the glacier scraped out the lakebed. The basin then filled with water at the end of the glacial period while the northern end of the lake silted up forming bogs. Thus, the northern shore is bordered by bog lands and the southern edge of the lake lies up against the mountains.

The Loisach river flows into the lake at Schlehdorf and out of the lake at Kochel am See. Hence, it’s the Loisach river that provides the lake‘s consistent water level. The river flows through both Tyrol, Austria and Bavaria, Germany. It is a 113-kilometre-long (70-miles-long) left tributary to the Isar river whose source is near Ehrwald in Austria. It flows past the Bavarian town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and after flowing 25 kilometres northeastbound supplies the Kochelsee with water. The Loisach then flows out of Kochelsee and joins the Isar at the town of Wolfratshausen.

Another worker on the front line, in my estimation. Shocking to me that the Trump White House is considering letting the USPS go under.

Claunch, New Mexico - May 7, 2021: Post office for the rural town of Claunch, New Mexico, zip code 87011

Description: Dozens of carriers leaving the main city post office building in New York City on June 15, 1936. Among the items carriers had in their mailbags for delivery that day were the first "bonus army" checks. The "bonus army" were World War I veterans who demonstrated in Washington, D.C. in 1932 for more rapid payment of their Service Certificate payments. The veterans received cashable bonds in 1936.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking to order stamps online from the USPS. They always have more than stamps available to order and it turns out that this item was one of them! A costume for your dog to make him/her look like a postal delivery person! It had me figuratively rolling on the floor!
