“The Turtle and the Swallows" is a relief sculpture located on the mailbox of the “Casa de l'Ardiaca”, a Gothic building next to the Cathedral of Barcelona. It was designed in 1902 by the modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Barcelona, 1850-1923) and executed by the modernist sculptor Alfons Juyol i Bach (Barcelona, 1862-1917).

The “Casa de l'Ardiaca”, originally constructed in the 12th century, was built into the remnants of the ancient Roman wall. It once served as the residence of the archdeacons of the cathedral. In the late 15th century, Archdeacon Lluís Desplà i d’Oms (Barcelona, 1444-1524) transformed the building into a Gothic palace adorned with Renaissance details, including a central courtyard with a fountain and an elegant upper gallery.

Crazy Thuesday 22.4.2025 "Mailbox"

We came across another happy mailbox during our adventuring last Sunday. Seeing these things that are obviously created for the fun of others to see and enjoy, well, that always makes me happy! Have a blessed Sabbath day everyone. :)

The Clematis Growing By The Mailbox is always impressive year after year.

Vernacular landscape feature in my neighborhood.

This is probably the most fantastic mailbox I have ever seen. The hand stands around 1.5m (5 ft) tall.

Found in Santa Fe.

I like this mailbox windmill. Happy Windmill Wednesday.

I can see I am going to have to up my mailbox game! This was found in Virginia last Sunday. We were riding the little one around some back roads while she enjoyed a restorative nap when we spotted this. Currently my mailbox is about the color of this roosters tail with big and little bubbles painted on it. Before that it was bright red, like the wing on this guy with Thumper the bunny rabbit painted on it.... a different pose for each side. What next?? LOL I'll post a photo if I ever get around to putting a plan into action! Have a great and wonderful day everyone!

There are quite a few original or decorated mailboxes in the neighborhoods, a little fun on a walk

We see all sorts of mailboxes on our travels out and about but this one has to be the very best one ever! Talk about Unique! This was one of those Stop! Backup! shots! I think we are going riding today but the weather forecast calls for rain/ freezing rain so we shall see what transpires.....

So difficult to find old mailboxes in Denmark after a standardization of mail and mailboxes some years ago but.... if you look carefully in old towns like Hornbæk...

😄Tanks for views,faves and comments😄

An weathered old suburban mailbox.

There really is a mailbox on Mailbox Peak. The hike up to the 4,822 foot summit is brutal. We went up the old trail and ascended 4,000 feet in a little over two miles.

Since I visited last there have been a lot of changes. A new trail has been constructed and the current mailbox is anchored in concrete. Sadly, the propensity of visitors to scrawl messages is no longer limited to writing left in the mailbox. People have written on the mailbox, on the rocks surrounding the mailbox and on the plaques congratulating the trail builders.

We used the new trail to descend. It is still steep, but much easier on the knees than descending the old trail.

The Seashell Mailbox along with some other odd elements, but the mailbox is something special.

Bowers, Delaware.

The people in my neighborhood have pretty plantings by their mailboxes . I have taken photos of many of them. This will be First in a series.

Not sure I'm getting the whole concept of this Mailbox but it certainly is one of the more unique ones I've seen! Two clicks were all I had going down the road at 60MPH and the first one was much more blurry! LOL This could have been sharper but I think I am still pleased with the results. Have a great day everyone! Anita and I are headed to Fincastle VA today to have lunch with a friend. 2 hours there and I am betting 4 coming home! Ha Ha!

A british style mailbox left over from the British Occupation of Malta.

I spend many hours on a blanket in my front yard playing with an11 month old:) So most of my recent photos are taken while on that blanket under the trees. Gives me time to see the world from another angle, play with focus, and remember the days when I couldn't wait for the mail to come.
