A set of images I shot around the East Perth inlet area while waiting for Kate at work one day. By this stage the kit lens for the 350D (which I dropped in Sydney a month after getting it) was starting to get a bit more worn. When I processed these photos later, I was amazed to see the magic light and shadows inherent in them . . Some had quite a painterly quality and lacked the detail that usually ruins a digital shot. (Needless to say I tried a shot or two on a 17-40 f4L last week and the detail is the same, so maybe there is something about the distance across the water or maybe my camera is broken in a good way ?)

the light outside was amazing that day. dark clouds filled the sky in the north-east, while a clear blue sky allowed the magic hour light to fall on every surface clearly. the contrast staggered the senses a bit.
