on days I didn't get enough sleep, my sister told me. It feels good just to be transparent" - Story people
This is my beautiful sister. There are thirteen years between us. Now that I am grown, with a child of my own, the gap no longer seems so great. We sit and drink coffee and speak quietly in the kitchen while our children nap. We discuss books we love, movies we adore and how two pairs of socks are much better than one when it comes to curing cold toes in winter.
There was a time when the distance the separates us didn't bother me as she lives on one side of the country and I the other. Yes, I missed her but life went on. Now I no longer feel the same. I long to sit at a kitchen table, warming my hands with coffee and chatting. We have more in common than when we were together when I was younger.
To put it plainly, distance sucks. That is all.

I'm trying to get the train sharp and the background all blurred. It's not perfect but i'm getting better.
A view of the old houses in Nyhavn in Copenhagen. Nyhavn 17 is probably the most famous house in Nyhavn, but Cap Horn is also easily spotted in particular at night because of the the neon signs.

With the near disappearance of horse drawn vehicles, mostly only the metal parts remain. This image is of a couple metal wagon wheels brightened by the morning sun - Idaho.
Baxter State Park is a pristine wilderness, in part because it is difficult to get to; one must feel fortunate to reach this place at all. This was the first light and my first shot of the day, after a few hours of driving in the darkness. As the timeless granite faces of rock are painted with soft light from the distant sun, I am reminded of how small I am, how far out from my warm bed I have come, and how lucky I am to witness this fleeting moment.
Thanks for looking!

It was one of those afternoons when all of the elements worked together to give me the magic and I was so happy to oblige. Lots of Rain, then as the light was setting behind the mountain ... it happened.
The red at the bottom of the images are the blueberry fields waiting for spring.
...you can lock him out of your workshop, but you can't lock him out of your heart. You can get him out of your study, but you can't get him out of your mind. Might as well give up he is your captor, your jailer, your boss and your master a freckled-faced, pint-sized, cat-chasing bundle of noise. But when you come home at night with only the shattered pieces of your hopes and dreams, he can mend them like new with two magic words "Hi, Dad!"
